RE: [www.keralites.net] Manorama News

Dear Joel

I repeat my point about Punjab, neither democracy or modern values could not have stopped the killing there. Can you suggest a way to to stop the Maoist attacks through democracy and modern values.

Both Thomas and Abraham talk about might is right. it doesn't match with democracy or any other modern values; especially when it happens from the government and its police.

You people name some people are anti-national and want to kill them by any means.

Keep it in mind that there are ultra fanatic groups in this same country who believe that people like you are traitors and ready to sell this country to the westerners. It is a parallel to their views on Muslims. In their eyes you and your families should be burned down alive.

So do not lose your moral standards while commenting on things like justice. Remember the famous quote "Do not judge; you will not be judged"

May be I am wrong, but I believe that, by hook or crook, we should finish such criminals. If such things happen in Israel, they should have killed the lot at one go. About Dawaod in Pakistan we are telling he is there etc.. instead Israel kill him in there in the spot. Our democracy is too orthodox and many places our hands are tied. US kill Thaliban in Pakistan and there is no such problem in US in this action. If it happen with India, we ourselves will be against.

Dear Mr. Joal

You are talking about the legal side, which does not always solve problems like that of terrorists. I do not know whether you remember Punjab in the eighties. Even after the killing of Bhinderwala in the Golden temple attack, terrorism was continuing there. It was Mr. Reberio, who was specially brought from Bombay who put a stop to it. His policy was simply annihilation of the terrorists and the police personnel who killed the terrorists were given Rs. 5 lakhs and a new identity to live in other states. Reberio was criticized by the Human Rights people that he was not respecting the rights of the terrorists. He replied that as the terrorists have rights, the innocent people and the police personnel who were being killed by the terrorists have also also the rights to live, and there ended the criticism. There was an attempt on the life of Reberio and his wife which they escaped due to their presence of mind. He was succeeded by KPS Gill, who followed the same policy of Reberio and that was the end of terrorism in Punjab.

Now the Maoists are killing  innocent people in Central India. Do you think arresting  a few and putting them in the Jail will solve the problem?  Did any one  say that the terrorists, who killed 166 people in 2008 attack should have been caught alive and brought to law instead of being shot dead (excepting Kazab)

Do not equate Rajan's case with Varghese. Varghese was a killer, and he would have killed more if he was not caught at that time. I,  like the crores of people of India have the right to live peacefully, and  that if the State has to kill a few  persons who resort to terrorist acts and kill innocents, to save our lives, I and all right thinking people of the state would support the State

Only a judge can order of killing a person in India. Even the president of India doesn't have the power to order to kill a citizen of this country. It won't be new information to you. So I do not understand why you are supporting this butchery? The good and evil of a person is quite subjective to people's view towards purpose of life and values. Rajan Varyar was also brutally killed by the police. Neither Rajan nor Varghese were any Govindachamy, if you know the history of this state and the reasons behind the killing of these people.

Please see the news from Manorama below. Persons who remember the Naxalite attacks and killing of innocents in the late sixties would admit that persons like Varghese were a social menace and if he was not killed at that time he would have killed more innocent people. These relations of Varghese who cry for the blood of Mr. Laxmana, should   think about the relatives of the persons Varghese killed. Varghese was killed for killing innocent people, but what the innocent people did to be killed.. If he was tried under the law, he would have spent a few years in Jail, boarding and lodging provided free by the State and would have come out to become a celebrity as Philip M Prasad and Ajita, the accomplices of Varghese in the killing are now.  The butcher of Soumya, Govindchamy is now on a diet of Chicken Biriyani on State expense in the jail and will come out after a few years and he too will become a celebrity.

So,  Mr. Laxmana did the right thing to save the lives of innocent people and I SALUTE HIM

T. Mathew
