Marine bugs may help us wean off fossil fuels.
Scientists have discovered a new enzyme that could help turn waste (such as paper, scrap wood and straw) into liquid fuel. The enzyme comes from a tiny marine wood-borer called "gribble', which are known to destroy seaside piers.

'Distinguished parliament, this law is against penetrations'
Jerusalem: A reference to "penetration" in a speech to parliament caused Israel's education minister to burst into a laughing fit on live national TV. Shai Piron, who is also a rabbi, was giving an address on a proposed law against smuggling cell phones into Israel's prisons. "Mr. Chairman, distinguished Parliament, the aim of this legislation is to deal with a serious phenomenon – the penetration of prohibited objects into a prisons," he said, and started chuckling. Be briefly recovered but broken down again over the perceived sexual innuendo when the word 'penetration' came up again. Struggling to continue, Piron wiped tears from his eyes.

Beijing: In a shocking discovery, a 66-year-old 'apparently' male patient in Hong Kong found himself to be a woman when he went to a hospital seeking treatment for abdominal swelling. Doctors found that the swelling was a cyst in his ovary and he was in fact a woman.
