[www.keralites.net] At 13, Pranav Kalyan Tamil lad has 2 US college degrees

At 13, Pranav KalyanTamil lad has 2 US college degrees :- Unlike regular 13-year-olds who may wish to be free to enjoy themselves all the time, the Californian resident Pranav Kalyan, who belongs to the Tamil diaspora, has already earned two associate degrees with honors from Moorpark College. He has become the youngest ever graduate in his college.

Pranav has earned two associate degrees with honors from Moorpark College, thus becoming the youngest graduate in the college.

The bright lad is also a brainchild of the Agoura Math Circle, which provides educational assistance to 100 kids. Hailing from Madurai, Pranav's family now settled in Los Angeles, is having a tough time in comprehending the breadth of his talent. "He allocates time for everything. He is interested in playing chess and tennis as much as he likes studying maths and physics," says his father, Kalyana Kumar Mohan, a software engineer.

At the age of 9, Pranav was the youngest person in the world to be a Microsoft certified technology specialist. It is only because he needs to enjoy the school environment that he continues to be in the middle school, his father explained.

He shuffles his tasks in the day so expertly that he manages to attend both his school and college.  Wonder when he does his homework? He told DC that he finishes it off in school hours. "It doesn't take much time to complete it," the teenager said.  Pranav spends his weekends teaching college students older than him. "Initially, I was not comfortable to study in the college among people who are 10 years my seniors. But my classmates welcomed me," he said.

He links subjects to the real time applications, which helps in good memorisation. An aspiring scientist, Pranav shared his ambition of inventing a quantum computer.

"The quantum computer, which utilises the principles of both maths and science, has infinite states. This would be very practical and help prove or disprove many mathematical theories," the lad said in heavy American-accented English.
If you label the boy to be a geek, you are completely wrong. He is also a fan of Rajinikanth as Pranav regularly watches Tamil movies. "I recently watched Darling 2," he said. When DC asked about his motive in achieving all this at a young age, Pranav replies, "I don't want to be bored."
