O, what a fall for this super Richie Rich Brazilian tycoo!

A billionaire's 99% loss – from $35bn to $200mn – in just one year.

Brazilian entrepreneur Eike Batista is no longer a billionaire as EBX, the holding company for his six entities dealing in natural resources and logistics, have over 85% in value in the last one year. Another $1.3bn in personal liabilities and $1.5bn owed to Mubadla has reduced his net worth to $200mn from $35bn last year – a 99% plunge. A slowdown in Brazil meant that Batista's oil and gas company OGX failed to deliver on production targets, losing credibility among investors and 86% of its stock value.
Batista, who ranked 8th on the global rich list till last year, had vowed to become the world's richest men.

(Me: Business in any sector is cyclical, with sometimes steep ups and downs in the fortunes of the particular area. The other examples in our part of the world are the Mittal of Airtel (Bharati Telecom) and Ruias of Vodafone, whose fortunes are about 50% of what they were at the height of the telecom boom. Incidentally, the Ruias seem to singularly lack the Midas touch in business: whatever they touched (shipping and steel) turned coal, if not mud; the rose to become billionaires sole on their holding a large chunk of stakes in Vodafone, that they had bought for a pittance. This is why diversification of one's business interests in unrelated areas is the best bet to retain your super rich club status.).

Sleep-deprived people show signs of premature skin ageing and a decrease in their skin's ability to recover after exposure to sun. In a fact-of-its-kind clinical trial, US scientists found that sleep quality impacts skin function and ageing.

Oxytocin, which promotes feelings of love and social bonding, also plays a role in etching painful emotional memories into the brain. High levels of the hormone make you feel more anxious or frightened after a stressful or negative experience. This finding helps explain why intense feelings of love can lead to painful heartache when a relationships turns sour.

Healthy lifestyle may be key to good sexlife.

Sex, drugs and rock-and-roll is an oxymoron. Men will start experiencing erectile dysfunction as they get older, but following a healthy lifestyle can lower the risk. Fitter and healthier men are at lower risk of losing the ability to achieve erection, reports a study.

Peanuts have tryptophan, an essential amino acid important for production of mood regulating chemicals.
