Dear All

No doubt, Kerala top in many, but only due to money coming in from Gulf.  Once that flow decreases Kerala will starve with no money to buy their essentials like rice from other states. We do not have any heavy industry other than the dying FACT. Only hope is  the techno parks coming up, but I am afraid soon these too will be taken over by trade unions and the companies will run away from the state. 
I have advised my children
1. Never join Govt. service, it is for the mediocre people and special qualifictions in birth for recruitment
2. Never join politics, it is for scoundrels
3. Never work in Kerala, you will be bombarded with hartals and strikes
4. Never send your children to education institutions in Kerala, there are more strikes than classes. If the students are not striking i will be the teachers who are on strike. 
5. Come to Kerala to enjoy the fine weather and food for holidays and retirement life, if you have money with you.

Least number of poor in Delhi, Kerala, Goa

 

Amidst acute poverty across South Asia, the five states of Delhi, Kerala, Goa, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have the least number of poor people in India, according to a new measure of global poverty developed at the University of Oxford for the UNDP. The new measure, called the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), has been developed and applied by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI).

 

It will be featured in the 20th anniversary edition of the UNDP Human Development Report. An analysis using MPI reveals South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa have comparable intensities of poverty, according to an OPHI paper, Acute Multidimensional Poverty: A New Index for Developing Countries. In terms of human lives, South Asia has the world's highest levels of poverty. Fifty-one percent of Pakistan's population is MPI poor, 58 percent in Bangladesh, 55 percent in India, and 65 percent in Nepal. The analysis states: "Delhi has an MPI equivalent to Iraq (which ranks 45), whereas Bihar's MPI is similar to Guinea's (the 8th poorest country in the ranking). "In terms of headcount, in Delhi and Kerala 14 percent and 16 percent of the population are MPI poor, in Jharkhand 77 percent of population are MPI poor and in Bihar, 81 percent."

 

Other states with the least number of poor are Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Haryana and Gujarat. The analysis by MPI creators reveals that there are more 'MPI poor' people in eight Indian states (421 million in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal) than in the 26 poorest African countries combined (410 million). "...The population of the poorest state Bihar, with 95 million people, exceeds the sum of nine of the 10 poorest African countries," authors Sabina Alkire and Maria Emma Santos say.

Yes in Gujarat there is hardly any Bandh or samaram.people are busy in their daily routine and are not effected by politics.It has always been a developed state .My father decided to settle here way back in 1970.What motivated him to settle in Gujarat is the people of gujarat.They are self contented and do not bother to create obstacle in other's progress.Cheating too is very less.Even in those days there were  good roads and power supply.

Modi or no Modi, Gujarat will continue to progress under any Govt.

Progress of gujarat is primarily in the hands of its citizen.Here you will hardly find one member earning and five family members depedent on him.Here every member contributes to family income in their own capacity.Have lived in Gujarat for more than two decades .

Lots of scope for Kerala to improve.Samaram must top and every one must take it upon themelves to be productive.

The other side is that there is no commu thoughts in Gujarat like in kerala.  There is no bursha , facist or american agenda to pin  point. Other difference is that when a gujarati gets money he multiplys it by starting a small or big business subject to his financial limits. But when a keralite gets money he builts a huge mansion , buys the latest car showing off ( By doing this he is creating oportunity for his near and dear ones to fight for the money he leaves behind after his death ) . Another reason for the keralite to build a house is beacuse of the lack of good people in case he  starts a business. In Gujarat there are plenty of manpower available. Even then due to large opportunities in huge industries comming up in Gujarat , there are thousands of keralites and other south indians working , settled there. You ask the keralites there and they will tell the fact. There are lots of keralites who made it big in Gujarat. The kerala NRI must meet Mr.Modi and discuss the ways for their investments in that state. You have lots of things to learn from Gujarat and Modi.  It is a shame that we tell that we keralites are highly literate and our GDP , per capita income is more than Gujarat etc. and wander to other states for making a living. What kerala does not have ?  It has a big accessable coastline . 3 international airports ( 2 more comming up) , plenty of manpower, water and other sources. Yet our govt is not able to utlise these resources in a proper way to make kerala a prosperous state. Take the case of agriculture. Rice , milk , meat ,vegetables and even textiles is comming from the other states. There is huge demand but no self production. The UDF/LDF ruling in turn must change . A third front must emerge to change the face of kerala.
