Character is power. The qualities of a great man are "vision, integrity, courage, understanding, the power of articulation, and profundity of character." The (ancient) Greeks believed that character was formed in part by fate and in part by parental training, and that character was exemplified not only by acts of bravery in battle but in the habits of daily conduct." Between ourselves and our real natures we interpose that wax figure of idealizations and selections which we call our character." The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."
Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing. Once Abraham Lincoln oft quoted that "I desire so to conduct the affairs of this administration that if at the end, when I come to lay down the reins of power, I have lost every other friend on earth, I shall at least have one friend left, and that friend shall be down inside me" i.e. CHARACTER.
Fame is a vapor, popularity an accident, riches take wing, and only character endures." The true test of character is not how much we know how to do, but how we behave when we don't know what to do." Those who will manage to retain their character in the bad times will eventually get everything back." If you have character, it's only a matter of time. In history Prahalad's story is an example to this.

Have no regrets in life. I think that everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build character, making you a much stronger person."
Have you ever admired a person with physical beauty but was repulsed by their nasty attitude, behavior and character? Have you been initially repulsed by a physically unattractive person but their kind, respectful and compassionate character and personality made them attractive? Character determines the true beauty of a person. Physical beauty fades away with time but character lasts forever!
Good character involves knowing, caring about and following upon core ethical values.
