Re: [www.keralites.net] Why People are against Amway?

Hello Mr. Pramodh Shivram,

Your last para was unwarranted. A person who was a Professor of Chemistry, need not be enlightened by others on Chemistry of Vitamin C, especially from his ex-student. Of course, if he can learn things other than his academic subjects, it is welcome.

When our economy was widely opened, all those foreign multinational companies rushed to India to exploit our huge market. As narrated by Mr. Nandakumar, certain companies really do cheat the public. We should be vigil against this.

Your story of cost of the different branded shirts is very fine. But the comparison with vitamins is very very poor. Our body do not recognise whether the Vitamin tablet consumed is of 20 ps. or Rs. 10/-, since the tablet only supply to the body the prescribed milligram of the particular vitamin. Not more than that. In such a case, if a vitamin tab is available in the market for 20 ps. or 50 ps., there is no justification for us to purchase branded vitamin tab costing Rs. 10/-. We are foolish if we think that the branded vitamin tab do wonder to our body.

Necessity of vitamins & minerals to our body was discovered long long back. It is my personal opinion that there is no such research required on these essential items. Moreover, normally a person need not take vitamin tab unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor. Mother nature provide vitamins & minerals through vegetables and fruits.

Here, the price tag of the item itself is a case of cheating. Instead of putting Rs. 1000.00, they have put Rs. 999.00, thereby creating a pseudo feeling on public minds that it is much lower than Rs. 1000.00.

I have posted this with a good intention, not to hurt anybody.

With regards,

Dear Mr.Nandakumar

I perfectly understand the reason for you to feel cheated.

But, then the question remains as to why a product is priced so high when you can buy "almost the same" at a much discounted price.

Now for eg., if you want to buy a shirt, u could buy one for maybe 200rs or less and at the same time, a peter england or likes might cost you around 600Rs and a Arrow or Louis phillip might cost you around 1500Rs and an Armani might cost you around 4500Rs. Now you call everything the same, a shirt. But then why is there a difference?

I would like to bring to your attention that Amway has got hundreds of patents under their hood and they are still spending billions on research. Would you think any company who could buy a vitamin C for 20 paise, repackage it and sell it for 999 needs to spend all this amount on research?

And i think all their products are from nature and does not have any chemicals as other products do. Hence there is absolutely no side effects.

And personally, I ve joined Amway 4 times and am still a member. Though i am not active into their business, i still do buy most of their products for personal use.

And being a teacher dosen't mean that you should not learn anything from others. Please have an open mind to learn from others...Always good to be a student and learn things than being a teacher and having a mindset. (sorry to have said this. This was not to hurt you. It was just my thought)

Take care

Regards
Pramodh

Why People are against Amway?

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net

Amway has recently come out with full-page advertisements in Newspaper Dailies to justify their stand. But in my personal experience Amway also functions in a new way of money chain business. The amway man finds a "prey" utilising a friendly relationship established directly or through some other person. Once they meet with a victim , using their "trained" oration somehow manages to sell a product to the "victim" My personal experience is given below. The Amway Agent in question who approached me happens to be a former student of mine whom I had taught Chemistry for a PG course in a professional college. He accompanied by 2 more Amway agents visited my house and general courtesy forced me to receive them and entertain them for a chat. After a formal introduction of his associates to me, my student started narrating about the merits of Amway using a VCD in my PC.

At last to get rid of them I had to purchase a bottle of one of their products Nutrilite Bio C which is nothing but Vitamin C. The funniest part of the story is that the student whom I had taught Chemistry started teaching me the chemistry of Vitamin C !!!. Finally I had to dispose him off telling him in a harsh way "കൊല്ലന്റെ ആലയില്‍ തെന്നെ സൂചി വില്‍ക്കനോട മോനേ ?" with a request to not approach me for this purpose in future.
I was forced to purchase the bottle of Nutralite Bio C for a cost of Rs.999.0 to save the face of my student in others' presence. The bottle contained 100 tablets, each tablet with a content of 250 mg Vitamin C. But you know, in the Medical Stores a Vitamin C tablet containg 100mg costs only below 20 paise and a 500 mg tablet, 60 paise.

Compare the Market Price & Amway Price of Vitamin C, from the following :
