Metallica became the first band to play in Antarctica US rock band Metallica was in the Guinness Book of World Records for playing in Antarctica. A crowd of 120 scientists and contest winners attended the concert. 13. Dakshin Gangotri, Maitri, and Bharti are India's research stations in Antarctica Out of these, Dakshin Gangotri was buried in ice 6 years after it was set up, forcing India to abandon it.  14. Summer in Antarctica falls during the months of October to February, while winter is in March to September It's opposite! #SouthernHemisphere
