This piece is beyond me. An adult human auditory nerves can decipher sound waves within the range of 20 to 16,000 Hz (a baby's range is better at 20 to 20,000 Hz). Humans cannot hear sound waves falling outside these limits.
Gayatri Mantra does not have a pitch (an important aspect of musical tonewith length, loudness, timbre etc) of its own.It is created by the reciter (or instrument). We recite Gayatri Mantra (for that matter any Mantra) at a reasonablepitch - neither too low nor too high. The figure of 110,000 sound waves per second attributed to Gayatri Mantra really bowls me out.I am also bowled out by theelaborately listed outattributes of Gayatri Mantra. People alsoclaim Gayatri Mantra is a "primeval sound." I find it difficult to accept such claims. Any Mantra is a composition of words in a particular language. One recites it with the belief that those words have mystical quality/powers. These Mantras were compiled God only knows by whom and how far back. As for me I am a Brahmin and have been reciting the Gayatri from the age of 7. I have come a long way from my childhood to my present stage. Have I found anything extraordinary in Gayatri Mantra? No. I was born a Hindu and hence I recite Gayatri. For me it is a ritual. If I do not take bath in the morning I feel some sort of discomfort. If I do not attend to my morning, noon and Sandhya pooja I again feel discomfort. Had my birth been in a Christian household, I surely would be reading Bible.Hinduism teaches leading a "detached life". If one wishes to attain salvation, leading a detached life is important, that is detachmentfrom anything and everything including God.
Religious hysteria and propaganda is very potent and make every one fearful. It can even mislead us if we are not careful. We oft repeat the words "hurting the religious sentiment". Is my belief and religious sentiment so flimsy that anybody can hurt it. I definitely do not think so. My belief in Hinduism is firm, deep rooted and nobody can shake it by saying something against my belief.
When we make tall claims in the name of religion, we are inviting others to respond. Some misguided may even react by pouring their emotions and using strong words against our religious claims. One should not mind it.
