For so many reasons, one of which is my love of fashion, I absolutely adore the idea of showcasing different wedding dress designs by decade.
Historic Franklin venue CJ's Off the Square partnered with BHLDN and photographer Jenna Henderson for this styled shoot, which spans six decades of gorgeous bridal fashion, from the 20s to the 2000s. Thanks to BHLDN's diverse inventory, each look is uniquely vintage-inspired, yet fresh and on-trend. There's a style for every bride, no matter what era inspires you most!
The Daisy Buchanan 1920s Style
The bride looks very glamorous and Gatsby-esque in the Cate gown, with art-deco beading, a dropped waist and a lovely dust-pink ombre color. A faux bob with finger curls and dark biba eyes complete her look. The Rita Hayworth 1940s Style
The bride floats in the Marilyn gown, with draped ivory silk tulle and a silver beaded bodice and waist. Victory roll curls and a bold red lip add to the glam and nostalgia of her vintage wedding style.* At the moment, the Marilyn gown is sold out. However, here are another couple dresses that are similar. The Khione Gown and the Fabienne Gown.
The Twiggy 1960s Style
This 60s mod style features the Hadley dress, with a slim silhouette and cap-sleeves. The bride flaunts a bouffant 'do and the Pearl Petal Halo, a la Twiggy. This would make the perfect playful ensemble for an elopement or reception. The Farrah Fawcett 1970s Style
Sexy and glamorous, this bride sports the Lola jumpsuit for a stunning nontraditional look. The 70s-style silhouette, paired with a feathered 'do and statement jewelry, would be perfect for an engagement or after-party, or even non-traditional nuptials on a weekday evening.* At the moment, the Lola Jumpsuit is sold out. However, here are another couple jumpsuits that are similar. The Mara jumpsuit and the Aurore Jumpsuit.
The Madonna 1980s Style
Girls just wanna have fun! For brides with an edgy style, the Gillian Tulle dress is playful and feminine, yet pairs well with layered necklaces and edgy black heels. Madonna and Cyndi would be proud.* At the moment, the Gillian dress is sold out. However, here are another couple dress that are similar. The Wynne Skirt, the Coppelia Dress or the Prospere Dress.
The Carolyn Bessette Kennedy 2000s Style
For a sleek, timeless style that exudes elegance, this bride is dressed in Dakota Gown, paired with the Ribboning Cirque Veil and chandelier earrings. The low chignon and flawless makeup create a chic minimalist look that's reminiscent of French fashion in the late 90's and early 2000s. Here are another set of links that will take you to some of the amazing gowns featured in this post, and similar items.
