MAHA SHIVARATHIRI (27.02.2014 – Thursday)INVITATION Performing abhishegam in a renowned temple is a common approach of everyone. But some may perform abhishegam with the temple, nearer to their place of residence. Some may perform at their native place. Though all the above are acceptable, we are performing abhishegam to a Shiva Temple,(which is uncared for) on Maha Shivarathiri Day, every year, since 2003. Age of the temple is over 700 years. It is the 12th year, proposed to perform as usual. When we perform milk abhishegam (10 Lit),to the Shivalingam, we get the milk not of same quantity. One time, we enjoyed that all the milk poured on Lord did not flow out. Beautiful Shiva, Ambal, Best Carved six faced Murugar, Lord Vinayagam, Nandheeswarar, are all blessing us from his abode, which is in a ramshackle, condition. During Maha Shivarathiri Day, we perform abhishegam to all the Deities, as per procedures, and place naivedhya with splendid and grand varieties. The local village people enjoy the blessings of the lord and get grace through the prasadams. Next day we distribute the prasadams among the interested devotees. Total cost of the expenditures would be arrived and equally be divided among the devotees, who showed their interest.Upon request the copy of report (any year), would be sent, separately. Lord Name : Arulmigu Sri Arunachaleshwarar (Aadhi Thiruvannamali) and Ambal Name : Arulmigu Sri Abhitha Gujambal, situated at Athanur Village, (13 km. from Ulundurpet Bus Stand to Tirukoilur Road). No need to send contribution, now. But, would be informed, after the function is over and can be credited to the designated account. Since there is no Gurukkal, you (following bhraminic culture) too can perform abhishegam on Lord Shiva. Athanur is a Pakka Village, where you cannot find any food or any sowkarya arrangements. But can be provided, if you convey your wish in advance. Abhishegam would start at 7 p.m. on 27.02.2014. Do extend your physical help to perform the abhishegam at the temple premises, as it is performed to all the deities in the temple. Do come around 5 p.m., to have a dharshan of Lord Perumal Temple (A Big Temple), adjacent to Lord Shiva Temple.
