അമ്പത്തിയേഴാമത് വേള്‍ഡ് പ്രസ് ഫോട്ടോ മല്‍സരത്തില്‍ മികച്ച ചിത്രങ്ങളായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തവ ചുവടെ. 90,000 ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ മല്‍സരത്തിന് പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. സമ്മാനിതമായ ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ നാല്‍പ്പത്തിയഞ്ചിലധികം രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളിലെ നൂറോളം നഗരങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കും. ആഫ്രിക്കന്‍ നഗരമായ ഡിജിബൂട്ടി നഗരത്തിന് സമീപം നിലാവെട്ടത്തില്‍ സോമാലിയയില്‍നിന്നുള്ള മൊബൈല്‍ ഫോണ്‍ സിഗ്‌നല്‍ കിട്ടാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന അഭയാര്‍ത്ഥികളുടെ ദൃശ്യം, 'വേള്‍ഡ് പ്രസ്സ് ഫോട്ടോ-2014' അവാര്‍ഡിന് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. അമേരിക്കന്‍ ഫോട്ടോജേര്‍ണലിസ്റ്റ് ജോണ്‍ സ്റ്റാന്‍മെയരാണ് ചിത്രം പകര്‍ത്തിയത്. | John Stanmeyer has won the World Press Photo of the Year 2013 competition with this photo of African migrants on the shore of Djibouti city at night, raising their phones in an attempt to capture an inexpensive signal from neighbouring Somalia — a tenuous link to relatives abroad.
