Tweet of the day: @Comedy Central "The Royal Baby was born weighing 8 pounds, or 5 US dollars"
(Me: Though black humour and awful arithmetic)

Q: Why did the elephant paint himself in different colours?
A: So he could hide in the crayon box!
A commonplace 'practice'…
Do oncologists (cancer specialists) benefit financially from prescribing chemotherapy?
Promoting the use of chemotherapy has been shown to account for up to 65% of an oncologists income. Interestingly, only 27% of oncologists surveyed admitted that this was true in their practice.
(Me: The 'cut' practice is widespread in our part…)

Fact of the matter…
Candle flames are a cause of fire in many places. Did you know that a candle flame typically burns at around 1000 degrees Celsiuss (1800 Fahrenheit). Also, the water used to put a fire out usually causes more damage than the actual fire.
(Me: Traditionally an oil lamp is lit in the evenings (some do it in the mornings, too) in Hindu homes, as a mark of invitation to the Gods. The oil lamps are, if not left in a safe place or in a puja room, are as fire hazardous as the candle flames)

Weird world…
Japanese women's thighs are used as billboards now…
In a rather bizarre occurrence, Japanese women are being hired to paint advertisements on their thighs. A PR manager was quoted as saying, "It's an absolutely perfect place to put an advertisement as it is what guys are eager to look at and girls are okay to expose.."
Reportedly, the company encourages the women to wear miniskirts and highs socks to ensure the banners get plenty of attention. A PR company in Japan has begun enlisting services of women aged over 18 to be billboards. They walk across Tokyo for around eight hours a day with these banners painted on their legs, since men like checking out women…

Food poisoning in Bihar school case…
Nitish spins conspiracy theory, blames BJP, RJD
Speaking for the first time since the death of 23 children in Saran district on July 16 and 17, Bihar CM says he fears more such incidents could take place.
(Me: This is the craziest country with politicians making wildest allegations without a shred of evidence. Similar food-poisoning cases have come to light from Maharasthra and Tamil Nadu, and mercifully, the politicians from these states have not made such statements)

Banned driver found trying to control car with pliers…
Adelaide: Police in Australia were amazed when they pulled over an erratic motorist and found he was steering his damaged car with a pair of pliers. The 38-year-old was driving with two blown-out tyres and his car did not have a steering wheel – he was attempting to control the vehicle using a vice grip. The pliers were clamped around the steering column and he was using them to steer the vehicle, turning the shaft with the pliers.
