[www.keralites.net] GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS

Since 1951, the Guinness World Records have been the premiere source to find out who's the tallest, the oldest, the most unique and strangest. People around the globe are continually trying to get listed in Guinness, and you wouldn't believe some of the things they're willing to do to become famous. Guinness does not offer payment of ay kind to those who set a world record, just official documentation of the feat.

Pin head
Wei Shengchu inserted 1,200 needles into his head but was still 590 short of the world record for self-acupuncturing. We're thinking he ran out of room on his head, but what's 590 more when you've got over a thousand already in?

Tat lady
Julia Gruse is the most-tattooed woman in the world, with 95 percent of her body covered.
Regular people aren't the only ones addicted to ink, celebs get in on the fun as well.

Pierced woman
Elaine Davidson the most pierced woman in the world, with 6,935 piercings on her body and counting. We can only see a small number of those in this photo, and we're not sure we want to visualize the remaining few thousand we can't see.

Tongue talk
Contrary to popular belief, the world's longest tongue belongs to Stephen Taylo, not Gene Simmons. Taylo's tongue measure 3.74 inches from the tip to the center of his closed top lip.

Smallest dog
At 6 inches long, Tom Thumb is one of the world's smallest dogs. He is not much bigger than the average hamster.

Rubber band ball
Joel Waul poses with his 8,200 pound rubber band ball, hoping to break the world record. The ball consists of over 300,000 assorted bands.
Stretch face
Garry Stretch holds the Guinness World Record for having the stretchiest skin. The 41-year-old suffers from an extreme case of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that has weakened his skin.

Taiji time
33,996 people take part in an attempt to break the record for the largest number of people practicing Taiji. Taiji Quan (Tai Chi Chuan) is a time-tested art which gently exercises the body, the energy flow, and the mind.

Biggest food
The World's Largest Onion weighs almost 18 pounds. It was grown by Peter Glazebrook, who had grown the world's largest parsnip earlier in the season.

Breaking glass
Hold on tight as we take a look at the 2011 attempt to break through the largest breakaway glass structure in a car. We're betting the "Rocky" license plate wasn't meant to pay homage to the boxing movies.

Smallest newspaper
First News received the Guinness World Record for the smallest newspaper. If we had newspapers this small all along, people wouldn't need to subscribe to digital copies. Everyone could fit this in a pocket to keep up with the latest news.

Largest nachos
A group is shown adding the finishing touches to the World's Largest Nachos, weighing a total of 3,999 pounds. The dish used 1700 pounds of beef and cheese, along with another 600 pounds of tortilla chips. Hungry? So are we.

Breakfast in bed
If you can't think of your own record to break, you can always join in a group effort to break one.
Presenting: The World's Biggest Breakfast in Bed in Sydney, Australia.
Largest chess piece
The world's largest chess piece lives in St. Louis. The piece stands 14 feet, 6 inches tall, and is built out of stacked plywood. A local company spent just over a month building it.

Tallest man
Bao Xishun is 7 feet 8 inches, making him one of the tallest men in the world. He was a former record holder until he came up short in 2009. Another man was measured at 8 feet, 1 inch tall.
