New blood test to tell how long you will love…

London: Researchers claim to have developed a controversial "lifespan" test that can tell how long a person will live by determining the rate of ageing.

(Me: One doubts how many will take it….)

Is there any promising new research on Alzheimer's disease?

A newly released study has revealed a promising new compound called TFP5.  It reversed Alzheimer's symptoms and restored memory in mice, with no toxic side effects.  The next step will be testing to see if TFP5 will have the same effect on people.

New York: Dating site SugarDaddie.com, which helps match older rich men with younger women, is attempting to persuade a Georgia town to adopt its name for publicity.  The site has offered Sugar Hill, a town of 20,000, $3.75 million to change its name to SugarDaddie.com for 10 years.  The proposal includes addition of a statue of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in the town!!!

Fact of the matter…

Each of the suits on a deck of cards represents the four major pillars of the economy in the middle ages: heart represented the Church, spades represented the military, clubs represented agriculture, and diamonds represented the merchant class.

(Me: Wow!   This is more or less akin to the very 4-group varna or caste system (comprising priestly/teaching, warrior, merchant and shudra or lower class that catered for the first three) that originated and still thriving, albeit with umpteen sub-castes, in India.  Indians didn't know until now that the four suits in a deck of cards represented the class system prevalent in the West).

News of the day…

Censor board member held for stealing panellist's Rs.5 lakh jewelry at screening..

Mumbai: A censor board member who allegedly stole her colleague's rings and a gold chain collectively worth Rs.5.25 lakh during a movie screening was arrested by the police.

(Me: Even the rich are not above the weakness for getting richer quickly, even by resorting to purloining another's belongings)
