Cube Tube consists of an office building and a restaurant in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, China. With the requirement to design a distinctive landmark with good natural lighting and an open, airy feeling, Sako Architects decided on a simple cube for the office building and a tube for the restaurant. The eye-catching 32-square-meter Cube is pock-marked by randomly placed square windows and rectangular terraces. To achieve a well-lit and open feeling inside, Sako Architects designed cross-shaped corridors that connect to the terraces on each of the Cube's four sides. The 55-square meter Tube, by contrast, is sheathed in a smooth, tinted glass façade. Low, dark, and brooding, it is almost invisible as it reflects the neighboring Cube.
