Flow of electrons thro the wire is electric current.
Electric potential, or voltage, causes such flow. It is true in either cases of AC as well as DC.
Electric energy is the presence of an electric potential which can cause a flow, and this can be a converted form of any other energy.
Magnetic field develops around the conductor during current flow and that too carries energy.
Whenever there is an interruption in the current flow, this magnetic field acts to maintain the current by developing more voltage within the wire, inis a other way called self induction.
It is a question like whether the chicken or the egg came first.
