[www.keralites.net] STRESS

DEAR ALL,

Everybody seems to be stressed out over studying with the coming exams just around the corner. Some even quarantined themselves from having any kinds of entertainment, getting involve in activities or outdoor pleasures. Some may suffer from sleep deprivation while others enjoying their unhealthy diets throughout the whole preparation period before exams. To make things worse, all of the activities above are related to one's health concern.

Let's begin with what stress is: Stress is a feeling that's created when we react to particular events. It's the body's way of rising to a challenge and preparing to meet a tough situation with focus, strength, stamina, and heightened alertness. There are 2 kinds of stress: Good and Bad.

Just enough stress can be a good thing. However, stress overload is a different story — too much stress isn't good for anyone really. For example, feeling a little stress about a test that's coming up can motivate us to study hard but stressing out too much over the test can make it hard for us to concentrate on the material we need to learn. Spot the difference?

People who are experiencing stress overload may notice some of the following signs:
• anxiety or panic attacks
• a feeling of being constantly pressured, hassled, and hurried
• irritability and moodiness
• physical symptoms, such as stomach problems, headaches, or even chest pain
• allergic reactions, such as eczema or asthma
• problems sleeping
• drinking too much, smoking, overeating, or doing drugs
• sadness or depression

As people may act differently towards the stress they're having, so I guess it wouldn't be harmful if we could together keep our stress under control. Here are some of practical suggestions that we can do in order to get through the challenging circumstances that may arise along our journey of life:~

prioritize - opt for the ones that are most important for us
~ must be realistic - no one is perfect, seek help if necessary
~ learn to relax - a simple breathing exercise will do!
~ get a good night's sleep - keep our body and mind in good shape =)
~ treat our body well - regular exercises, eat healthily!

Last but not least let's always make duaa to god; ask Him to grant us resilience to face all the tribulations etc. Also, be optimistic and remember to believe in yourself!

Verily, along with every hardship is relief, (i.e. there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship cannot overcome two reliefs)
