8-year-old Yang Wei (flowery dress) and other children make a journey along a mountain path to fetch water in Chahe village, Sichuan Province, China. Southwest China is currently experiencing the worst drought in 50 years, affecting some 17 million people. Xu Yong County in Sichuan Province is one of the worst affected places. Chahe village is at a high altitude in the mountains and this year there is a severe lack of drinking water as the streams that are the village's main water supply have dried up. 8-year-old Yang Wei lives in Chahe village with her grandmother and little brother while her parents work in another city. Each day Yang has to make numerous trips to several local caves in order to collect water for their daily needs. The cave where the water is located is in the middle of a vertical cliff 1km away from the village. There's no proper road along the cliff to the cave, only some narrow walkways that have been chipped out from the stone. At its widest, this walkway measures 1 meter across but at its slimmest there is only half a foot.
