Here are some beginners tips to Meditation to get your started...

The benefits of meditation are innumerable. It teaches you to
concentrate and to put reign on your thoughts relieving you of the
negativities of life.

1.If you are a beginner, fix a time for daily practice (preferably
in the early morning) and begin by stretching your body. Loosen up
your muscles and relax. It is good to meditate after a bath.

2. Find a peaceful, well ventilated and comfortable place where you
can spend at least 20-30 minutes without interruption. Avoid fan
and artificial lighting. Use a candle instead.

3. Take up the lotus position or better sit on a chair. Don't try
to restrict your thoughts but allow them to flow in until you feel
the readiness to focus.

4. Select an object to focus on. A beginner can use a picture of
"om" or any virtual object that can soothe him. Or it can just be
his breathing with the chant of "Om", "Waheguru" or "Ik Onkar". If
he wishes he can meditate with his eyes closed too. Remember, that
your mind had no control over itself and it fails to focus. Just
bring it back to the "centre of focus". We are not to be bothered
by the invading thoughts but we want them to leave no marks there
as they pass by.
