Qatar World Cup Organizers Want Indian Bravehearts Who Handled Mumbai's 26/11 Security Crisis
As a result, a list of over 20 IPS officer from different parts of the country is to be compiled by Union Home Ministry and the shortlisted persons will visit the first security seminar to be held in Qatar's capital city of Doha in March this year.
The conference will be a brain-storming of security experts in the run-up to the 2022 Football World Cup, said officials.
"States and UTs (union territories) have been told to nominate officers after we received communication from Doha and FIFA.. The event will be a good exposure for our officers, and our forces can benefit from their experience in the near future," a senior government official told The Indian Express.
Officials involved in providing security cover for Fifa Under-17 world cup and domestic football leagues such as ISL are on radar of the union ministry. Maharashtra police and NSG have also been asked to nominate SP and DIG rank officials who did their bit during Mumbai attacks.
