Dera chief auctioned his used glass and dress for whopping Rs 6 lakh

The "bling baba" would entice his followers into doling out lakhs of rupees for his trashed outfits and other consumables. During an auction in Sirsa, one of his follower, Somvir, spent a whopping Rs 6 lakh to buy his jarring outfit along with a glass he used, said sources. The convicted Baba would deceive people with a promise of "good fortune" if they won his belongings in the auction.
Somvir committed suicide last week. His wife Chitra accused Dera chief of "usurping" their property under the garb of donation to the Sect. Somvir "donated" 12 acres of his land to the sect and in turn was given a used Audi car. His auctions generated crores of rupees.
It has come to light that the Sect chief had started his own "Big Boss" show inside the sprawling complex. He even has his own cinema hall in Sirsa where his movies, a nightmare for critics, would be screened for spans that would dwarf those of Bollywood celebrities Salman and Aamir Khan.
Besides his enormous sources of income, the sect chief had devised uncanny ways to generate cash. It is estimated that the sect generated hundreds of crore of rupees every month just by way of donations and contributions from his followers and nearly 90 lakh permanent members. The sect claimed it had over 5 crore followers and everyone was asked to donate Rs 1 each day in the name of welfare. This amount alone would add up to enormous cash reserves every month.
Sources said the sect chief would hold competitions among followers in states of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan leading to privileges for those who would generate maximum funds. Somvir's sister Sumitra claims that the sect chief would ask followers, like her, to drink a glass of "concoction" after which they would feel disarrayed and part with gold ornaments in "reverence" before the sect head.
