[www.keralites.net] Mango - Naturally Ripening Vs Chemical Ripening

Mango - Natural Ripening Vs Chemical Ripening
Most of us prefer to eat mangoes because they are the sweetest mangoes in the whole lot. They are grown organically so they are tasty and healthy as well as expensive.
With people becoming more and more health conscious, the demand for mangoes is increasing with each year and so is the adulteration in the market.
Yellow ripe mangoes attract you to them, but before you buy the whole box of mangoes wait and have a careful look at those mangoes. You never know they can be the ones which are chemically treated. It has been found that the mangoes can be artificially ripened using certain chemicals. The main chemical used to speed up the ripening process is calcium carbide. It is a chemical that is used to produce wielding gas, which is very harmful if consumed. This chemical has been banned under the prevention of food adulteration act and rules. So beware or else you may land up in hospital.
Let us see how we can differentiate between artificially ripened and naturally ripened mangoes
Remember the terrific attractive aroma of a ripe mango? A naturally ripened mango will have a great aroma whereas artificially ripened mango will not have any aroma, in fact it wil lsmell like garlic.
The ripe yellow fine looking mangoes at the fruit vendor are sure to compel you to buy but those handsome looking mangoes are artificially ripened. Naturally ripened mangoes will have uneven green and yellow patches all over it.
These artificially ripened mangoes look finely ripe from outside but the flesh will not be ripe whereas a naturally ripened mango will be uniformly ripe and will have sweet taste all over.
A naturally ripe mango will be juicy but a chemically treated mango won't be juicy and it will be hard.
It has been found that most of the mangoes in the market are chemically treated than naturally ripened.
Naturally Riped Mangoes
Organic mangoes, once ripe and ready, are the most luscious fruit you can bite into.
