When I came across this information I could not turn a blind eye to
it because it is highly upsetting.

Studies say that adults may have ADHD too. Children with ADHD may
grow in to adulthood with those symptoms, which might have gone
unnoticed in childhood. And experts think that the symptoms in
adults can be different and more subtle making it difficult to
diagnose it. That's not all, people with ADHD are at a higher risk
of developing Dementia.

It may come in handy to know the symptoms of adult ADHD:

1. Poor Organisation Skills - Childhod was difficult. The increased
responsibilities in adulthood weigh ADHD people down. Their
problems and shortcomings become more obvious and visible then.
Disorganisation is their worst handicap.

2. Relationship Problems - Such problems are caused mainly due to
their distraction, poor listening skills, inability to fulfil commitments,
mood swings and more.

3. Reckless Driving and Accidents - Due to their distraction
and inability to follow instructions they may have frequent
traffic accidents.

4. Restlessness or Hyperactivity - ADHD people simply cannot relax.
They are often edgy, tense and hyperactive most of the times.

5. Attention - A spouse who doesn't pay attention can cause breakdowns
in relationship. Forgetfulness despite multiple reminders, missed appointments
and misunderstandings indicate ADHD or ADD. If you find yourself
highly disturbed or distracted by a small ring of phone, chime of
the clock or an email then you need to get yourself checked!

6. Extreme Temper - Anger is not abnormal but, the inability to
control it is not normal. Exploding at minor issues, frequent flare ups
and easy cool downs are common in ADHD.

7. Always Late - ADHD people cannot keep their time. They cannot
judge the time it may take to finish common day to day tasks
creating a lot of problems in life.

8. Failure in Performance - An adult putting off work is more
serious than a child putting off his homework. Lack of planning,
procrastination, failure to begin or complete tasks and making
careless mistakes are common in ADHD/ADD.

A qualified professional would make the right diagnosis with the
help of screening tests.

Interestingly, a study on children with ADHD has shown that
activities done in outdoor settings surrounded by greenery, reduced
the intensity of symptoms and showed marked improvement.
