Kerala villagers saved trapped baby elephant
 

 

This is the heart-warming moment a baby elephant was saved from an abandoned well after it fell inside and got stuck.

Villagers in the southern Indian state of Keral came to the aid of the two-year-old elephant after they heard its cries for help.

The distressed elephant was located part-submerged in a muddy hole in the Kuttampuzha Forest Range.

 

 

The elephant is believed to have fallen into the well while walking through the forest with its herd

Villagers in the southern Indian state of Keral were alerted by the elephant's cries of distress
 

 

Locals used a tractor to carve a makeshift slope and pulled the elephant free with a piece of rope

The elephant ran back into the forest upon regaining its freedom but it is unclear whether it found its mother

 

Villagers used tools to chip away at the mud on the bank to help create a platform for the elephant to climb up on

The elephant was located part-submerged in a muddy hole in the Kuttampuzha Forest Range
