Twins Baby Elephants a Very Rare Surprise Birth

The mama elephant Curve is named after the curve of one of her tusks.

Twin births in elephants occur less than one percent. Nonetheless, a 31-year-old cow named Curve gave birth to twins on December 4, 2014 in a privately-owned reserve in South Africa. Pongola Game Reserve reported the survival for twins is very rare, therefore giving Curve a stress-free environment with her calves is a priority. The sex of the two is unknown.
