Transforming Hyderabad the Youngistaan Way :- HYDERABAD: With close to 300 people on their list of volunteers who get together over the weekend, Youngistaan Foundation has been making quite a difference – to the lives of people who actually need it.
The projects include a Feeding Programme, where a select team of members meet and feed mainly people on the street. "From cutting vegetables, to cooking and serving, we do all of it," explains Arun. Another is the Bright Spark Project, where the team has its association with six orphanages in the city.
And their current project is Transformers, where the volunteers scout the streets for people who have been without access to basic hygiene – even a shower for a long time and give them a make over.
"This project has only been a month old and we have transformed close to 50 people," informs Arun.
Another project – Women of Courage is underway where the idea is to bring together women from all walks of life and find practical solutions for problems they face on a daily basis.
While all the projects come with a fresh perspective, Arun is of the opinion that Bright Spark project requires maximum attention.
"We want more people to come and help us with this particular project because once kids are educated, our streets will be empty," he expresses. And the foundation works on the same philosophy.
The foundation is looking for volunteers to spend time over the weekend so that their projects reach a larger scale of people. Interested people can log on to their Facebook page Youngistaan and sign up to become a volunteer.
