Leis
Leis are an important part of Polynesian culture
Traditionally, the groom wears a Maile Green Open Leaf Lei, sometimes entwined with an orchid leaf as seen in the photo above via Hawaii Weddings By Tori Rogers {Fisheye Studio Photography} . The bride usually wears a white jasmine flower lei called a pikakae (seen on the bride here). During the ceremony, the couple exchanges their leis as a sign of unity. A Haku lei – a lei worn on the head and tied at the back- is also worn by the bride, you can see plenty of examples here.
Leis can also be used to create dramatically beautiful backdrops as seen with this stunning chuppa. Floral design by Jeff Leatham via Style Me Pretty {Elizabeth Messina Photography}!
