There are now more female billionaires than EVER as record 172 women make Forbes list - including Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg
A record 172 women were included on this year's Forbes billionaires list, up 25 per cent from last year. Forty-two of the 173 female billionaires were new on the list, including Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg. Sandberg entered the list after her 12 million shares in the company jumped 130 per cent in the past year.
But Sandberg is just one of the five of the 42 female newcomers with a self-made fortune. The rest of the wealthy women either inherited their money from either a parent or a husband. Other newcomers to this year's list include British gambling company founder Denise Coates (bottom middle) and Estee Lauder's grandchildren Jane Lauder (top middle) and Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer (bottom right). Veterans include fashion designer Tory Burch (top left), Spanx creator Sara Blakely (top right), and Steve Jobs' widow Laurene Powell Jobs (bottom left).
