Pictures of the week: From Royal 'wizards' to a turtle escaping an alligator's jaws
Here's our pick of the pictures around the world this week...
1.It's this way...Prince Harry with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge aim their 'Harry Potter' wands
during the royal opening of the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, Herts (PA)
2. 'One Day In History' by Andrea Gjestvang earned the Norwegian photographer the prestigious
'L'Iris d'Or/Sony World Photography Awards Photographer of the Year'. The project follows the children
and teenagers who survived the massacre on the island of Utøya, Norway. Pictured is Ylva Schwenke,
15, was shot in the shoulder, stomach and in both her thighs. She said: "I bear my scars with dignity,
because I got them standing for something I believe in."

3. Jury member Pascal Barillon, winner of the 2011 Paris Best Baguette award, gets his nose deep into a baguette
which was in the running to be crowned the best in Paris. The competition saw 203 Parisian bakers compete for the
prestigious honour of being named the best baker of the signature bread.
The winner earns the privilege of baking bread for the French President (Reuters)
4. An elderly woman cries as she rests on a couch in front of damaged houses in Taiping, Sichuan province.
A devastating earthquake rocked the Sichuan province in China, killing more than 200 people arousing memories
of a similar quake in 2008 that left 70,000 people for dead in the same area. More than 12,000 people were injured
and 120,000 were left homeless (Reuters)
5. The Hubble space telescope celebrated its 23rd year in space with a spectacular picture of the Horsehead Nebula -
a pillar of gas and dust floating 1,500 years from Earth (SPACE)
6. A doll wearing a gas mask lies on the decrepit frame of a bed in a nursery in the deserted town of Pripyat.
The town's 50,000 population was hastily evacuated within two days of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
No one has been allowed to come back - leaving the town untouched since 1986.
This week sees the 27th anniversary of the world's worst nuclear catastrophe (Reuters)
7. Einstein the disabled fish could only swim upside down and would often sink to the bottom of his tank after suffering
from a terrible bladder disease. But the poor goldfish is now right way up after his owner fitted him with a life jacket
that stops him from sinking to the bottom (SWNS)
8. Heavy lifting: Patient macro photographer Andrey Pavlov snapped this incredible close-up shot of ants
lifting a spoon by coaxing the insects with honey and sugar (Caters)
9. A survivor slides down a length of fabric from the debris of the collapsed buidling in Savar, near Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The eight-storey building was home to a number of factories which supplied, among others, British retailers Primark and Matalan.
More than 300 people died in the accident (Reuters)
10. Escape from the jaws of death! Thanks to its tough shell this tiny turtle escaped being lunch for this alligator.
The reptile spent 15 minutes trying to prise open the shell but eventually gave up leaving the turtle to scuttle back
into the water - unharmed (Caters)
11. A masked demonstrator kicks a barrier during a protest against same-sex marriage in Paris, France.
The French parliament approved a bill legalising same-sex marriage and adoption following a divisive public debate
