Chinese holds own funeral for fun…

A Chinese student stunned her family and friends by holding her own funeral for 'enjoyment' and to see what people really think of her.  Zeng Jia paid for a full service including flowers and photographers that was attended by mourners who walked past her while she was in a coffin.  The 22-year-old also hired a team of cosmetic artists, who specialized in making the dead look more lifelike, to make her body look more convincing.  She said that experiencing death had made her appreciate life more keenly.

A married couple behind a dating website for cheats, have defended their site as a public service, insisting that it can help save marriages.  Noel and Amanda Biderman run the $90 million website Ashley Madison.com, which helps married people have affairs.  They say cheating can actually help some struggling marriages – providing with an alternative to divorce.  "They find themselves in a sexless marriage, they're caught between a rock and a hard place.  For many, infidelity becomes that life preserver."

Louisiana woman gets 2-cent electricity bill…

A Louisiana has woman received an electricity bill of 2 cents.  When Abby Jones first saw the bill on Monday, she thought it was an April Fool's prank.  But she later grew worried about ignoring the bill and having her electricity supply cut by power company.  Jones received a call from a customer care executive, who wanted to make sure she wasn't worried.

(Me: Wow – talk of customer care – this IS it!  Such customer service is seldom heard of in apna desh Mahan, Bharat...))

From the world of medical science…

Cholesterol drugs may save your vision.

Eye drops designed to lower cholesterol may be able to prevent one of the most common forms of blindness in the aged.  Targeting cholesterol metabolism in the ye might help prevent a severe form of age-related muscular degeneration (AMD), a professor of ophthalmology and vision sciences at Washington University in St. Louis has said.

An engineer dies and goes to hell.  Soon, he gets dissatisfied with the place, and starts making improvements.  After a while, they've got airconditioning, flush toilets and escalator, and the engineer becomes pretty popular.

One day, God calls up Satan and asks, "So, how's it going down there?"

Satan replies, "Great.  We've got air-conditioning, flush toilets and escalators, and there's no telling what this engineer will come up with next."

God replies, "You've got an engineer?"  That's a mistake – he should never have got there; send him up here."

Says Satan, "No way!  I like having an engineer on the staff, I'm keeping him."

God says, "Send him here or I'll sue."

To which Satan laughs, "And just where are YOU going to get a lawyer?"
