Role Purpose:

Maintains the books of accounts for the project/s in accordance with the generally accepted accounting principles and policies

Updates the Cost & Profitability Statement for the project on a monthly basis

Principal Accountabilities

Performance INDICATORS

General Accounting

1. To ensure project accounts are prepared and records / files are maintained in a logical and organized manner at all times

2. Preparation and timely transmittal of weekly cash-flows, purchase registers and cheques requisitions to the Head Office.

3. To analyse and tabulate all contract terms and conditions affecting the finance function.

4. To ensure proper financial close-out of the project in line with company procedures.

5. To maintain Asset details and ensure transfers in/transfers out are properly recorded.

6. To compute the project payroll at site.

7. To maintain site petty-cash and ensure all transactions are correctly maintained and recorded.

8. Ensure all payments are processed on time (viz employee related, vendor related, government payments etc)

Cost & Profitability Statement [CPS]

1. To ensure Cost & Profitability Statement information is updated in a timely and accurate manner, with sufficient back-ups to substantiate all entries.

2. To follow correct procedures and ensure all cost-to-date data captured in CPS are correct and complete at any given point in time.

3. To monitor the budgeted performance with the actuals, analyzing the variances and discussing and reporting the same.

4. Comparison of Physical performance with other financial parameters to evaluate consistency of data.

9. To take total responsibility of monthly Cost & Profitability Statement and Cash-flow computations, updating them regularly taking into account relevant information available, and discuss the same with Project Director before issuing the same through the monthly report.

10. To maintain a healthy relationship with the Project Director, Planning Engineer, Quantity Surveyor and Procurement personnel on the project and ensure that all relevant data/events are captured at the right stage for financial reporting purposes.

11. To pro-actively participate in cost control rather than reporting after adverse event/transaction has taken place.

12. To vet all commercial terms and condition of Sub-Contract / PO before sign-off as per the delegated authority.

13. To maintain high level of commercial awareness on key aspects of the contract.

Project Monthly Report that encompasses on project financial performance and updation of Cost & Profitability Statement

Reporting

1. To ensure monthly Cost & Profitability Statement is closed out and discussed with the Project Director, before issuing the same by way monthly report. To ensure that attachments like Invoice register and Change order cost sheets (workings) are also included with the monthly report.

2. To compute look-aheads and carry out trend analysis, prepare various scenario under assumptions and trends for cash-flows and CPS with a view to analyzing the financial risk and flagging up problems at early stages.

Timely & Accurate submission of all required reports.

Basic Knowledge / experience in Tally ERP 9 is desirable

Participates & supports in the implementation of SAP system and adapts to the new system

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, Skills & Knowledge.

Education: Professional Accountant (ACA, CMA, CWA, CPA)

OR Commerce Graduate (Bachelor of Commerce)

Experience: 3 years with a professional qualification with knowledge of construction industry OR more than 8 years experience with at least 5 years in the construction industry.

Special Skills: Good interpersonal skills
