6 Health Benefits of Drinking Beer

There is little that compares to the hopsy, rich and refreshing taste of a cold beer. The world's third most popular beverage has been around for centuries, but has gotten a bad rep as being fattening and high-calorie, and as a result is increasingly avoided at the bar. Yet new studies reveal the surprising health benefits in beer that could make it, once again, your beverage of choice, in moderation of course.
So, pour yourself a cold beer and sip on it while you read about its amazing health benefits!
1. Reduces the Risk of Heart Disease
beer
Alcohol in all of its forms, be it beer, wine or liquor, is known to help reduce the risk of heart disease. Studies show that a moderate consumption of alcohol thins the blood, making it less likely to clot. Alcohol also increases the amount of good cholesterol in the blood and lowers blood pressure.
2. Good for Kidney Health
Although too much alcohol is noted to be bad for the kidneys, beer has been shown to be an effective reducer of kidney stones. Kidney stones result when there is too much calcium in your system and the hops in beer has been shown to slow the release of calcium from the bones. Also, beer has a high water content that helps clear out the kidneys and keeps them stone free!
3. Believe it or Not, It's Nutritious
Beer is packed with tons of nutrients! One 12-ounce beer has about one gram of fiber and it is full of B vitamins like B6, B12, niacin and riboflavin. It is rich is silicon, a nutrient noted for helping to strengthen bones.
4. Reduces the Risk of Diabetes
In a 2011 Harvard University study on 38,000 middle-aged men, it was shown that when they drank two beers a day, their risk for Type II diabetes dropped by 25 percent! However, this percentage applies for two beers a day and no more than that.
5. Could Reduce the Risk of Cancer
Along with all of the vitamins mentioned above, beer also contains lots of good antioxidants that can cleanse your system of toxin. In addition, a Portuguese study found that marinating meat in beer can eliminate almost 70 percent of the carcinogens, or radioactive substances tied to cancer. Even if you're not drinking beer, it's great to cook with it!
6. Improves Brain Health
New research has shown that a few beers a day may be able to ward off Alzheimer's Disease and lower your risk for stroke. This is also due to the blood-thinning nature of the alcohol in beer that prevents the occurrence of clotting. In a 2005, it was found in a test group of 11,000 older women that those who drank at least one beer a day had better mental function than those who didn't, and that by drinking beer they decreased their risk of mental decline by 20 percent

Snoring good for the elderly

LONDON: If you think that snoring is bad for your health, think again, for a study has suggested that the nocturnal snorts, whistles and wheezes can give you a long and healthy life , particularly if you are elderly.

Researchers in Israel have carried out the study and found that people aged over 65 years who suffer from a snoring -related condition, called sleep apnoea, tend to live longer than those who do not snore.

According to the researchers, this is because short bursts of hypoxia -- interrupted breathing -- actually have a protective effect on the elderly people by conditioning their cardiovascular system to cope with lack of oxygen.

This means that when oxygen supplies are cut off, as in a heart attack or stroke, the body is better able to cope, they said.

But the study has found that the effects of sleep apnoea do not have the same effect in younger people -- in fact, middle-aged men in particular are at a higher risk of heart disease, the Daily Mail paper reported.

The researchers at Technion Institute have based their findings on an analysis of more than 600 elderly people over a period of four years -- they found fewer heart-related deaths than in a control group of 'healthy' volunteers.

The findings of the study have been presented at a meeting of the European Association for Sleep Research in Glasgow.

Pain and Pleasure to fit all

Robert was meditating in a group meditation. This particular type of meditation is about stillness of the body. To avoid making any movement and to become aware of our own breathing.
After meditation was over, Robert shared with his teacher that he felt bliss.
"It was a sensation of fulfillment;" Robert mentioned..
Then, Robert explained that he felt physical pain after a while during the meditation, but in this occasion, it was the first time that he fully accepted it, and the pain stopped being that bothersome.
His teacher said that it is good to feel those things, but equanimity is the teaching. Don't take pleasure neither pain. Remain in equanimity.
The students agreed with the teacher.
Isn't that a good teaching? :-)
It depends. Some will teach: "Do what is pleasurable. Avoid what is painful. It is good as long as it feels good."
Another teaching will say: "Sacrifice your pleasure now. Renounce pleasure now for it is just tempting you. You will indulge in it and you will forget about greater things in life."
Yet, Robert's teacher mentioned to remain in equanimity by not taking pleasure nor pain.
Which one is the right teaching? For sure, one of them has to be the right one, for those 3 teachings contradict themselves.
That is how 3 different "religions," 3 different belief systems emerged.
As we grow in awareness, we could see that the first teaching "Do what is pleasurable and avoid what is painful," makes sense. Most people will follow this. It is for the masses. Nevertheless, it is forgotten that duality does not work like that. Pleasure comes with pain. The more pleasure we pursue; equal amount of pain will be experienced in one way or another. The anticipation of pleasure is emotional pain until pleasure comes. Once pleasure is experienced, comes the pain of not being in pleasure. :-(
The above is the cycle of addiction.
The second teaching is about becoming acquainted with pain, so it is not that "painful" anymore and to avoid the other side of duality, that is pleasure as much as possible. This spiritual teachings was made popular when the understanding about the flesh, the body; as the culprit for not experiencing our spiritual side. That is bring the spirit up, the soul forward by denying the body. The masses could understand this teaching very well. "Don't do this. Do that instead." The issue is that pain could become the pursuit. It could become the "pleasure." More pain experienced means a greater state of sainthood.
Masochists are those who find pleasure in pain.
The third teaching is to remain in equanimity by rejecting both, pleasure and pain; seems logical; it seems "good"… However, in Spirituality to make an "effort" to reject duality means not to experience life but to become a machine. Duality is not "bad.."
All of the above teachings have shortcomings. The issue resides in the type of consciousness we are in.
According to that consciousness, there will be a type of follower for those teachings.
A "normal" person has an addictive personality. If it feels good, you want more of it, always more. That is why the teaching of denying things is thought to be the answer to reform the person. But then, too much denial becomes an "abnormal" behavior. The question is, what is "too much"?
Thus, to deny both sides of duality; takes away the experience of life.
When our consciousness accepts pain with the same equanimity as pleasure, then there is equanimity in acceptance. That means, there is equanimity in experiencing life. When pain is not taken as pain neither pleasure as pleasure, when we abandon those ideas, there is freedom from pursuing something. It is just an experience.
Until our minds are not-self absorbed in the experience of one side or the denial of both sides of duality, then we will no experience balance, we will not enjoy life with gratitude.
It is pain bad? No. It is pleasure bad? No. It is pain good? No. It is pleasure good? No. They are neither bad nor good.
What are they?
Pain and Pleasure.
Please realize that it is our clinging mind, our mind full of attachments to liking something or even rejecting something (we become attached to that idea) that state is taking us out of balance and harmony.
The above teachings are not concerned about individuals, so they discover the state of their minds through experience and observation. Those teachings are more into putting a paragraph of "do " and "don't do" in a basic law, in a book to worship, so it fits all.
A "Fit all sizes" type of deal, will not fit all very well. It never has.

Please read till the end : 👇
CAUTION : Laminating Property Documents & Other Certificates

Most of us are tempted to get the documents laminated so as to preserve them.

"We had our property documents laminated for their safe keeping. This was years ago.
Recently we tried for a bank loan by mortgaging the property docs. At the final stage of verification of original documents, the Bank Lawyer flatly refused even to look at the documents saying that they are laminated. The reason being that, since they are laminated, the original documents cannot be differentiated from the colour photocopies. Appears, it was a hard learned truth as the Bank was duped by the colour photocopies of the original documents, duly laminated and presented.

We were asked to get the documents de-laminated ! else forego the loan.

The concept of de-laminating was something like "OMG, Is it possible ?" to us. We started searching those who can de - laminate documents.

The internet gave us the address of one at Lahore in Pakistan. That apart, we got another person in Bangalore who quoted Rs 3500 per document, with 20 documents on hand, we were looking at cool 70 K for de -lamination. We were about to be robbed.

At last we could find some one at Mysore who agreed for Rs 500 per paper. We rushed to Mysore from Bangalore, got them done. The whole experience has left us with lot of knowledge.

We have a lesson here. Pl do not laminate the original property documents. The Banks will not touch them. No loans can be taken on them. Even the buyers would hesitate at the time of sales. Further, Please be careful while receiving such laminated documents in a transaction. Whilst browsing, I have also come across where the people have run into Visa problems while submitting the laminated mark sheets, degree certificates."

Do pass it to other friends too.....

14 Reasons to Love Your Age

Aging is not normally associated in the most positive of ways, but what if contrary to popular belief, I told you that if you fall in the 40+ bracket, you're fitter, healthier, happier and more beautiful? Sounds too good to be true? Bear with me - science will back this idea up.
Walking

Age Bracket: 40+
Advantage: You're fitter
While turning 40 may spark fear in some, use your 40s to usher in a new kind of athleticism, marked by training smarter with more time and resolve.
1. Endurance Improves: Muscles are made up of individual fibers designed for either endurance (slow twitch) or strength (fast twitch). A meta-analysis found that adults ages 61 to 84 developed less overall muscle fatigue, in comparison to 21 to 36-year-olds. Researchers believe that this is in part, due to a greater proportion of slow-twitch fibers in older muscle.
2. Muscles Remember: It takes a great deal of practice to get good at sports that involve repetitive movement. But, once you get into the rhythm, muscles 'remember' and with just a little prompting, the motion can be repeated efficiently.
3. More Time and Incentive to Train: According to a recent survey of single boomer women, 59% said they work out several times a week, and 54% are more active now than they were at age 35. As we age, we often focus on preventing health problems. This idea is backed by a survey, which found that people of 55 and older, are more likely to exercise to improve their health, than for other reasons.

Age Bracket: 40+
Advantage: You're Healthier
True, in our 40s, aches and pains are a little more prevalent - but life helps us to stay healthier in other ways.
4. Stress Backs Off - Finally: The negative attributes of chronic stress - risk of heart attack, depression and disease - are well known, but at least, stress does ease with age. According to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, stress levels peak in your mid-to-late 20s, then steadily decline.

5. Blood Vessels become more Resilient: The idea that artery linings deteriorating due to oxidative stress (which has been linked tocardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer), is being challenged by some scientists. New research on mice shows the ability of artery linings to withstand oxidative stress may actually improve with age.
6. Sex becomes more Satisfying: In one study, 40 researchers tracked the health of 806 women and found that 61% of survey respondents reported being satisfied with their sex lives. The study also found that 67% of sexually active women were able to achieve an orgasm always, or most of the time.
Beauty

Age Bracket: 50+
Advantage: You're More Beautiful
Believe it or not, age does enhance good looks. Take a look at some of the most attractive women in this age group - Christie Brinkley, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sharon Stone... but, how do you get more beautiful with age?
7. Temples and Cheekbones get more Defined: By the time 50 rolls along, the fat pads in our face thin out, giving more elegant features.
8. Glowing Replaces Sweat: As we age, our sweat glands weaken, which in turn slows your ability to perspire.
9. Legs Deforest: By the time we hit 50 and you begin to experience menopause, our body hair starts to thin - this may have to do with a decrease in male hormones, or years of plucking and waxing, which weakens follicles.
10. Breakouts Decrease: At this age, our oil glands shrink. As a result, we get fewer breakouts.
11. Pores Shrink: Tight, beautiful skin depends on pore size. In some women, as they age, their oil glands shrink and so do their pores.

Age Bracket: 60+
Advantage: You're Happier
Living life every day with a half smile on our face may seem like an impossible feat when we're young (given all the responsibilities you have), but with age, it becomes a natural countenance.
12. Negativity Declines: Research shows that people generally think more positively after they've hit the 65 mark. Scientists say the amygdala (the part of the brain that is linked to emotion) actually begins to respond less to negative images with age. It was also found that older adults can snap out of negative emotions a lot quicker, because they tend to focus on the positive.

13. Happiness Peaks: A survey (of 23,000 people) conducted by the Centre for Economic Performance in London, saw that there are two happiness peaks in life. One occurs at age 23, and the other, at age 69. It has been speculated that the later-life peak is due to no longerfacing disappointment about career and personal goals.
14. Anger, Stress and Worry Decline: In a survey (of 34,000 people) published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, many reported experiencing these emotions less frequently from age 50. People in their 70s and 80s felt them the least.
