Careful for word you are using!   You know the old saying, "sticks and stone may break my bones, but words will never hurt me?" means you keep your mind cool to any word and that should not damage you.   But it may spoil any relationship. Even if you apologize later, you can never take it back. You can't "un-say" it. The other person may take your words to heart and be forever changed. It's important to live by another old saying - "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."   But it's not just conversations with other people that can be life-changing. The words you say to yourself can have a major effect on your life.   Have you ever called yourself stupid for making a silly mistake? Those mean comments may be over in a few seconds, but their effects can last forever. That's because every word you say - even the internal conversations you have with yourself - is being processed by your subconscious mind. Your subconscious keeps a record of everything it processes. As a result, you wind up feeling bad about yourself all the time.   Even if they're irrational, the words you use today may become a firm belief in your mind tomorrow, because you set a low expectation for yourself. It's a phenomenon psychologist's call a "self-fulfilling prophecy". Your mind believes something is true, so it makes sure it becomes true.   So, the next time you go to open your mouth - think about the words you're about to use. Choose them wisely and make sure you'll be comfortable.

He has saved 321 people in 13 years. Chen Si rents a two-bedroom flat so that those in need could have a place to stay after being saved from the bridge. The flat costs 1,000 yuan ($145) a month. Two-thirds of the cost is covered by donations and Chen pays the rest. With a monthly salary of 4,000 yuan ($578), he spends half of the money on his volunteer work and hands the rest to his wife.

If Your PC or Laptop Fails to Turn On, Try These Tips! The other day, I came home from work and wanted to check my Facebook and e-mail accounts. I made myself a cup of coffee and sat down at my computer, pushed the power button and nothing happened! I tried a couple more times, then checked that it was plugged into the wall – nothing. I later discovered that it was relatively easy to fix, but I had to ask a bunch of people until I managed to come up with a solution. The whole ordeal got me thinking that, if this happened to me, it must happen to many people. This is why I've created a simple guide to saving your computer.     The computer won't turn on First, you have to ascertain whether it is the computer that isn't turning on, or just the screen. Most computers today have cooling fans that make a "fwoosh" noise when they're working. If your computer is making that noise, but the screen is still dark, see below for the screen section. Now that we know that it's the computer that isn't turning on, follow these steps:   Desktop Check to see if the computer is plugged into the power socket. (Make sure you check both the outlet, and the computer itself, to see that the power cord is indeed connected on both ends) •    Unplug the computer from the wall and leave it unplugged.      •    Check the cord for damage.      •    Press the power button twice – this is done to discharge any static electricity that might be interfering with the computer.      •    Plug the computer back into the power socket and turn it on.      If the computer still won't turn on, unplug it again, and check another socket – one you know is working (It's possible that the power outlet you've been using isn't working).   Laptop •    Check that the power adapter is plugged into the wall and to the computer.      •    Inspect the cord for damage.      •    Try a different power socket.      •    If possible, unplug the laptop, remove the battery and check it for visible damage, then plug the battery back into the laptop, plug the power adapter in and try again.      If during these steps you see or hear sparks or electrical flashes, or happen to smell smoke, unplug the computer and call a technician. The computer turns on, then powers off (either instantly or within a couple of minutes)   In a laptop, this usually indicates that the battery is either drained or faulty. To be sure, plug the laptop into the wall and see if the issue persists. If it works, it means that the battery was drained, and if the problem repeats whenever you unplug the laptop, it means that the battery is faulty, and you may need to replace it. In a desktop, it can mean that the computer is overheating and powering down to avoid hardware damage, or that one or more pieces of hardware are not working properly. Usually overheating occurs when an internal cooling fan isn't working, or when the computer might be full of dust, which prevents the proper dissipation of heat. If you do not know how to clean your computer or change the fan, or if the issue persists, contact a technician. The computer turns on, but the screen won't   Desktop Check that the screen is on. Most screens have a "sleep" function, which switches them off when you power down your computer to save power. The best way to know if your screen is turned off, or stuck in "sleep" mode, is to look for the power indicator. If the little light (usually at the bottom of the screen) is off, try the following: •    Push the 'ON' button, on the screen. (Repeat after each step)     •    Check that the screen's power cord is connected to the screen and the power socket. (The 3 most common display cables and connectors) •    Unplug the cord and inspect for damage.      •    Unplug the cord from the wall and test another power outlet.      If the problem persists, it may indicate that the screen is faulty and needs to be replaced. •    If the power indicator is on or flashing, that means that the screen is receiving power, but did not get the "wake up" signal from the computer. •    Check that the cord connecting the screen to the computer is plugged in at both ends. •    Unplug the cord and inspect for damage.      If the problem persists, it may indicate that either the cord is not working, the screen is faulty or that your computer's graphics card is not working properly – so contact a technician.   Laptop •    Turn the laptop off.     •    Unplug from the power outlet.      •    Remove the battery for 30 seconds, and then put it back in      •    Plug it into the wall and power it on again.      If the screen doesn't switch on, or the issue repeats itself, it indicates a hardware problem and you should contact a technician.

A Daily Dose of Cumin Powder Will Help You Lose Weight! Your spice rack may hold the secret to weight loss. Recent studies have shown that cumin, has many health benefits - one of which includes weight loss. Furthermore, another major benefit which scientists have recently discovered, is that cumin can effectively reduce harmful lipids in the blood, associated with cholesterol. Backed Up By Science A study conducted at Iran's Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences, included 88 women considered overweight and obese. The women were divided into two groups and assigned different diets. Both groups were instructed to reduce their daily caloric intake by 500 calories. The first group ate 3 grams of cumin powder mixed with 5 grams of yogurt, daily. The control group ate yogurt too, but without any additives. After 3 months, the group eating cumin lost 3 pounds (1.4 kilograms) more than the control group. Their body fat percentage dropped by 14.64% - triple the control group's decrease of 4.91% - which the researchers attribute to the spice. In addition, the group who ate cumin were found to have lower levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol and increased HDL (good) cholesterol levels. The researchers determined that the spice was a beneficial dietary aide. How the Cumin Works   Cumin is rich in antioxidants, which fights free radicals in the body, and phytosterols, a plant substance with a similar structure and function to cholesterol. Phytosterols hinder the bad cholesterol from being absorbed by the digestive tract. Previous studies found that food enriched with 0.8 grams of plant sterols lowered LDL, the bad kind of cholesterol. Other studies have also associated cumin with cancer prevention. In addition to fighting cholesterol, cumin is a loaded with iron, which supports the immune system and prevents anemia. Creative Way to Incorporate Cumin into Your Diet The study had the participants mix cumin and yogurt, which many people might find unappetizing or challenging to stomach. Since the daily dosage recommended is 3 grams of powder, which is less than a teaspoon, we have thought of some easy ways to include the spice into your daily diet. Add to roasted or sautéed vegetables Add to homemade guacamole or hummus Sprinkle over a healthy snack of nuts Drizzle over brown rice, along with almonds and dried apricots Use instead of black pepper Season salads Sprinkle over meat or fish Flavor lentil soup Season scrambled eggs Other spices that can help There are other spices sitting in your spice rack that have a wealth of health benefits.
