[www.keralites.net] Investing in RELATIONSHIPS.

Few days back, superstar of her times, Sixties, actor Sadhana died a lonely death in a Mumbai Hospital. She was shot to fame in her very first movie 'Love in Simla'. Then for many years there was no looking back. In her heydays, she was the heartthrob of millions.

Her lonely death is tragic, painstaking and surprising. Imagine none in this big old world to cry for or bid adieu. Obviously, building relationships  when you can and must, was totally ignored by her. Though one gets used to all sorts of pains in life but pain of being all alone can be quite miserable and unbearable. Answer lies in building, nurturing and investing in relationships from an early age.  This is a very important aspect of life but we ignore it at our own peril. Whatever level of SUCCESS one may achieve but if one is lonely in the end, it amounts to Failure.

Relationships need to be build when one is young since as you grow old, it becomes more and more difficult. Hence, building, nurturing and investing in relationships from an early age. But relationships must be meaningful and sincere not numbers which means nothing.

Following are some of the ways, how strong meaningful relationships can be built in life so that you can cherish and relish them as you grow old. It is then, money, status, position, nothing gives pleasure and satisfaction. What pleases you are few trustworthy sincere friends. Mind you, we are not talking about fair weather friends who are dime a dozen. One can collect any number of people for a party or functions in which guests of all hues and cry can enjoy five star hospitality for free. I have seen families whose such functions are often attended by a couple of thousands, but only counted few at the cremation ground.

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS

1. Body language, tone and manner, matter a lot whenever you are speaking to someone. Be polite and positive. Mean what you say and do not mince words. Better to be straight forward rather 'say something, mean something types'. Never irk to have the last word in a discussion (avoid arguments). Give-in in all the minor inconsequential matters. Never be sarcastic using double meaning language. Speak as you want to be spoken, with respect and gratitude.

2. Avoid 'me First' approach: Develop the Attitude to give rather take. Help others. Take genuine interest in others, matters concerning them keeping your personal problems on the back burner. Give place to others in any queue. Be a good patient listener . All this will show, how much you care and caring types are kept in people's heart.

3. Be the Original you: When you buy something, you are careful that you buy the original not duplicate. So be one. People should love you from heart not mind. Do not try to impress people instead focus on expressing. You automatically impress people when you express with clarity, honesty and vision.

4. Forgive easily: You will find great solace in forgiving and owning a prejudice-free heart. Forgive, forget and move on. Do not provide rent-free space to all the grudges one can have in life. First cooperate then only expect others to cooperate. And if they don't, do not crib, criticize or complain. Just go about what needs to be done. Just keep doing that.

5. Be Thankful, Appreciative and Encouraging: Well, quite a rare activity. We tend to pounce on someone's faults mistakes and ignore the good done. Doing that you may get perverted pleasure but would always loose lots of goodwill and bonhomie. Never let an opportunity to be appreciative or encouraging missed.

6. Be GOOD: What you be, BE GOOD. Your company, then shall be cherished and relished by everyone. When you do good, Goodness returns.

There are many more, but if you take care of the above, things will automatically fall into place in life.

Building relationships must be given utmost priority taking help from the above cues. START DOING IT NOW whatever it takes. Its important, very important.

[www.keralites.net] Coconut in Temples

Coconut in Temples

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net
Known as "Tengai" (literally "honey fruit") in Tamil, and as "Nariyal" in Hindi (literally "fruit containing water", from the root word "nari" meaning "water").
The coconut is a resilient fruit whose shell can withstand the pressure of sea water, so it is not impossible for it to have made the transit across the water without human assistance. A hardy plant, the coconut would have been able to survive in relatively inhospitable weather without much upkeep. It grows in sandy soil, requires little water, and requires virtually no maintenance. In Indian culture 'Nariyal' or 'Copra' is a symbol of good luck and prosperity. Every auspicious work begins with the breaking of the coconut and the offering of 'Nariyal' is a traditional ritual. For success and prosperity at all occasions, the launch is done with the breaking of a sanctified coconut.
All religious functions and rituals start with the offering of the coconut since it is regarded as the symbolic Ganesh, the deity who helps in the successful completion of any work undertaken.

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net
Sage Vishwamitra is said to be the creator of the coconut. Its hard kernel inspires one to do hard work for attaining success. People get strength and improved eyesight by eating the kernel. The sick and the elderly find its water nourishing and ladies apply its oil for luxurious hair.
Germs can't penetrate its hard kernel so it remains intact for months together. Coconut is used both as a food item and as a medicine. It is a rich source of vitamin E, B, C and calcium, iron, phosphorus and other minerals. It has high quality alkaline oil and is a rich source of fat. The protein found in coconut is also of high quality. Coconut is easily digestible, nutritious, blood enhancer, urinary tract purifier, strength giving and remover of the three doshas.
In Indian culture one of the most common offerings in a temple is a coconut. It is also offered at occasions like weddings, festivals, the use of a new vehicle, bridge, house, etc. It is offered in the sacrificial fire while performing hawan. The coconut is broken and placed before the Lord.

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net
It is later distributed as prasad (a holy gift). At the beginning of any religious occasion, a coconut is turned around the person or diety and broken at the entrance; this is to remove negativity and bring out the goodness. The whiteness inside the coconut denotes purity.
The fibre covering of the dried coconut is removed except for a tuft on the top. The marks on the coconut make it look like the head of a human being. The coconut is broken, symbolising the breaking of the ego. The juice within, representing the inner tendencies (vasanas), is offered along with the white kernel – the mind, to the Lord.
A mind thus purified by the touch of the Lord is used as prasad. In the traditional abhishekha ritual done in all temples and many homes, several materials are poured over the deity like milk, curd, honey, tender coconut water, sandal paste, holy ash, etc. Each material has a specific significance of bestowing certain benefits on the worshipers.
Tender coconut water is used in abhisheka rituals since it is believed to bestow spiritual growth on the seeker. The marks on the coconut are even thought to represent the three-eyed Lord Shiva and therefore it is considered to be a means to fulfill our desires.
The coconut also symbolises selfless service. Every part of the tree -the trunk, leaves, fruit, coir, etc. are used in innumerable ways like thatches, mats, tasty dishes, oil, soap, etc. It takes in even salty water from the earth and converts it into sweet nutritious water that is especially beneficial to sick people. It is used in the preparation of many ayurvedic medicines and in other alternative medicinal systems.

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net
Ancient Indian doctors used to burn its outer shell to prepare tooth powder, creams and ointments for burns. Every inch of the coconut plant is very beneficial to humans hence Indians consider it a good omen to receive or give coconut as gifts. It is also called 'Shreephal' because it denotes prosperity.
Coconut is a crop with unique features. Owing to its versatile uses, the demand for coconut and its products has been on the increase having already attained the premier position in the world. Moreover coconut is an eco-friendly crop which permits co-existence of multi-species of plants.
It enriches soil fertility in association with other crops and is quite amenable to organic farming if appropriate intercrops are grown in the inter-spaces. Due to multifarious uses, the future of the crop is very bright irrespective of the location where it is grown in the world.

[www.keralites.net] Your Body Talks: The A to Z of Vitamin Deficiencies

The A to Z of Vitamin Deficiencies

Because many people eat unhealthy and processed foods, many essential vitamins might be skipped in a daily diet, leaving your body not functioning as it should. The human body shows us when something is not quite right. This article will help you understand the symptoms of vitamin deficiencies, helping you prevent damage and disorders from rearing their ugly heads.

Since vitamins participate in all body functions and reactions, a deficiency or even poor intake of one of them, can affect your body's daily functioning. This creates the perfect opportunity for diseases to occur.

These 5 common indicators suggest that you have a vitamin deficiency.
1. Hair loss and rashes

When you frequently experience body rashes and hair loss, an indication as to why it occurs could be low zinc, as well as vitamins B7, A, D, E and K. Hair loss is especially indicative of an insufficient intake of zinc. Similarly when you lack iron, wounds will take longer to heal, skin will be drier, and rashes, red spots, and dark bruises may appear. While you can take vitamin supplements, iron and zinc can be consumed through diet.

Try increasing the amount of dried fruit, whole grains and dairy products you eat. Button mushrooms, bananas, pumpkin seeds, avocados, raspberries and brewer's yeast are especially helpful.  It is also recommended that you eat less eggs, as they may interfere with your body's ability to absorb vitamin B7.

2. Cracked mouth corners

Fun & Info @ Keralites.netThis unpleasant symptom is commonly associated with a vitamin B deficiency, specifically B12, B2, and B3, and may also indicate a lack of iron or zinc. Vitamin B can be found in seafood such as clams, oysters, salmon, and tuna. Eating more eggs also helps.

If you are vegetarian increase your intake of lentils, peanuts, dried tomatoes, sesame, and chard. It's also important to increase your intake of vitamin C, as this allows iron to be absorbed more easily. Try combining these foods with broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and red peppers.

3. Cheek, arm and thigh acne

When red spots start to appear on your cheeks, arms and thighs, this could indicate that your body is lacking in essential fatty acids and vitamins A and D. The spots will appear small sacks with sebum. They can sometimes be painful to touch. To solve this issue, you need to reduce the amount of saturated and trans fats you eat. Switch to healthier fats flax seeds, fish, almonds, dried fruit, and walnuts. You can also increase your vitamin A levels by eating more sweet potatoes, red peppers, and carrots.

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net4. Cramps and dull pain in your feet and legs

This will start to happen when your body doesn't have enough calcium, magnesium, and potassium. This can also be due to strenuous exercises, whereby your body loses water-soluble vitamins Vitamin B. Your vitamin B levels often drop when you sweat excessively. But, this doesn't mean that you need to live in the North Pole or stop exercising. Rather, increase your intake of nuts and fruit such as bananas, almonds, hazelnuts, cherries, apples and grapefruit. Vegetables pumpkin, spinach, broccoli and cabbage also help.

5. Burning, itching and numbness in your arms and legs

When these you feel these symptoms it's ly due to a lack of vitamins B6, B9 (folic acid) and B12. When you have insufficient amounts of these vitamins, your skin's nerve endings are affected and it can also cause fatigue, anemia, depression and hormonal imbalance. You can increase your intake of legumes,as well as more vegetables asparagus and spinach. You can also try to up your intake of seafood and eggs.

Here's a handy visual guide to help you:

[www.keralites.net] The Amazing Tsar Bell, Moscow

The Amazing Tsar Bell, Moscow

The Tsar Bell also known as the Tsarsky Kolokol, Tsar Kolokol III, or Royal Bell on display on the grounds of the Moscow Kremlin. Tsar Bell is one of the most prominent and famous monuments of art foundry in Russia. It's the biggest bell in the world. It weighs about 200 tons, but no one has ever heard its ringing. The bell was broken during a big fire and it was never lifted on a bell tower. The diameter of 6.6 meters and height of 6.14 meters. It was founded from bronze by masters Ivan Motorin and his son Mikhail in 1733–1735. Ornaments, portraits, and inscriptions were made by V. Kobelev, P. Galkin, P. Kokhtev, P. Serebryakov and P. Lukovnikov. The bell was never rung — during a fire in 1737.

After the fire, the bell remained in its casting for a century. In 1836, the Tsar bell was placed on a stone pedestal next to the Ivan the Great Bell Tower in the Moscow Kremlin. The slab is nearly three times larger than the world's largest bell hung for full circle ringing, the tenor bell at Liverpool Cathedral.

However, recent studies have questioned the fact that the bell is made of plastic bronze bell could split during a fire and suggest that cracks have arisen because of the violations in technology (the cooling after casting the bell could be left on the rod and cracked-out for crimping), and the fire could be a convenient excuse.

This version says that in 1736 MOTORIN receives casting Tsar Bell just 1,000 rubles and rank tsehmeystera casting Affairs "for their efforts and for updates bell plant," suffered from a fire. And later for casting bells for the Novodevichy Convent and the Trinity-Sergius Lavra he asks 8000 rubles for the bell.

After 1737 there were several attempts to retrieve the bell from the pit, but they all ended in failure. Only in 1836 coped with this task of the architect Auguste Montferrand France. He drafted a lift and stone pedestal to install a bell on it. As a result of this work of art foundry sample taken out of the pit and set on an octagonal pedestal.
