[www.keralites.net] ?Artificial Egg? Made from PLANTS Backed by Bill Gates Set to Revolutionize Cooking Goes on Sale at Whole Fo ods

'Artificial Egg' Made from PLANTS Backed by Bill Gates Set to Revolutionize Cooking Goes on Sale at Whole Foods

A radical 'artificial egg' backed by Paypal billionaire Peter Thiel and Bill Gates went on sale in US supermarkets for the first time on September 10, 2013.

Made from plants, it can replace eggs in everything from cakes to mayonnaise – without a chicken ever coming close to the production process.

The team today started selling their 'plant egg', called Beyond Eggs, in Whole Foods in California – and say it could soon be available in supermarkets worldwide.

We want to take animals out of the equation,' said Josh Tetrick, the firm's founder. 'The food industry is begging for innovation, especially where animals are involved – it is a broken industry.'

Tetrick's idea was to find a mix of easy-to-grow plants that, when mixed together in the right way, replicate the taste, nutritional values and cooking properties of an egg.

This, he believes will allow the firm to produce its substitute for mass market foods – and to allow developing worlds to grow their own versions with added nutrients.

'Eggs are functionally incredible, they do everything from hold oil and water in mayo to making the muffin rise and holding scrambled eggs together,' he said 'I started to think what if we can find plants that can do this. We have about 12 plants pre-selected, including a pea already widely grown in Canada. There's also a bean in South Asia that is incredible in scrambled eggs.'

The firm is already in talks with major food manufacturers around the world – including several in the UK, to replace eggs in supermarket products with their alternative.

So far, he says the team has perfected an egg substitute for mayonnaise, and one for cakes.

'Companies like Hampton Creek Foods are experimenting with new ways to use heat and pressure to turn plants into foods that look and taste just like meat and eggs,' he recently wrote of the firm. The team initially struggled.

'Our first attempts weren't great, we tried to make a muffin using a mix of plants,' said Tetrick.

'Ours tasted really gummy, and didn't have the 'bounce' we wanted. Our mayonnaise would not hold the oil and egg together, so had what looked like liquid syrup. Scrambled eggs were even worse – they just wouldn't congeal at all, and had a really bad aftertaste.

Tetrick admits the firm is struggling with artificial scrambled egg. He says there is a 'pretty good' recipe, but admits more work is needed.

'Eventually we'll get to one thing that will replace everything,' he said.

The firm hopes to allow developing countries to grow and produce their own 'plant eggs'.

'In developing countries, we can also add in things missing from the local diet, helping nutrient deficiencies, and we have had initial discussion with the world food programme about this.

'What we want to do eventually is find a way to work with farmers in the developing world to enable them to have new cash crops that can be used. Then we become the kind of company to be feared by the bad guys in the industry.'

'Even better than the real thing':

MailOnline was able to try two of Hampton Creek's products – its mayonnaise, and cookies made using its baking product.

The results were surprising, if a little anticlimactic. Both tasted exactly as you would expect – and are indistinguishable from products made with real egg.

The chocolate chip cookies we tried were excellent – crumbly, moist and with a feel in the mouth identical to a normal cookie. Crucially, they also look identical to a normal cookie – despite containing no egg.

Hampton Creek's 'Beyond Egg' mayonnaise was also extremely similar to 'normal' mayo – and after trying it out on a few friends, some even preferred to to normal mayonnaise.

[www.keralites.net] Punganur Breed ( Indian ) cow a craze among the rich

Punganur Breed ( Indian ) cow a craze among the rich

The milk of this small breed has high fat content and rich medicinal properties

An increasing number of backyards of ultra-rich families in the city is in the possession of a common asset these days: a special breed of cow — the Punganur dwarf cow — which originated in Chittoor district.

Considered among the world's smallest breed of cows, the Punganur breed's milk has a high fat content and rich medicinal properties.

While cow milk normally has a fat content of 3 to 3.5 per cent, the Punganur breed's milk contains 8 per cent, similar to buffalo milk, according to officials of the Animal Husbandry Department.

Divine offering

Perhaps, this is why the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has about 200 Punganur cows in its cattle-yard. Ghee prepared from the milk of these cows is being used in 'archana' (offering) for Lord Venkateswara.

Available only in small numbers, the Punganur cow has become a craze, a status symbol, among the wealthy in the Andhra Pradesh capital of late. "They are shelling out at least Rs.1 lakh to buy the cow, which is believed to bring good luck," sources in the Forest Department said.

A status symbol

Among high-society persons to be in possession of the special breed are the likes of P. Srinivas Rao, a top businessman, N. Harikrishna, a politician, and TTD chairman K. Bapi Raju.

An estimated 50 cows of the breed are in the city now. Even Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has reportedly sought a cow.

When contacted, Mr. Bapi Raju told The Hindu he was not aware of the breeds which the TTD's cattle-yard had.

"There are many good breeds of cows, including the Punganur one," he said.

Did he have one of that breed? "I have different breeds of cows in my native place in West Godavari and in Hyderabad," he said.

[www.keralites.net] Consumer Alert: 300+ Health Problems Linked To Statin Drugs ( Cholesterol Drug)

Consumer Alert: 300+ Health Problems Linked To Statin Drugs (Cholesterol Drug )

A growing body of clinical research now indicates that the cholesterol-lowering class of drugs known as statins, are associated with over 300 adverse health effects -- research boldly flying in the face of national health policy, medical insurance premium guidelines, statin drug manufacturer advertising claims, and the general sentiment of the public, with approximately 1 in every 4 adult Americans over 45 currently using these drugs to "prevent heart disease."

The Cholesterol Myth

For well over 40 years, statin drugs have successfully concretized a century old myth about the primary cause of heart disease: namely, that cholesterol "causes" plaque build up in the arteries, ultimately leading to obstruction of blood flow, and subsequent morbidity and mortality.

Indeed, the medical establishment and drug companies have been singing the praises of this "cholesterol myth," to the tune of 25 billion dollars in statin drug sales, annually.

While it is true that oxidized low-density lipoprotein is found within the atheromatous plaque that is found in damaged arteries, it is less likely a cause than an effect of heart disease. The underlying damage to the lining of the artery, which could be infectious, chemical, stress and/or nutritionally-related, comes before the immune response that results in plaque buildup there. Blaming LDL cholesterol for causing heart disease, is like blaming the scab for the injury that caused it to form, or, like blaming the band-aid for the scab it is covering -- this is, after all, the inborn and fatal flaw of allopathic medicine which focuses only on symptoms of disease, which it then -- fool-heartedly -- attempts to suppress by any chemical means necessary.

Death By Statins?

No one can deny that statins do exactly what they are designed to do: suppress cholesterol production and reduce measurable blood serum levels. The question is, rather, at what price do they accomplish this feat, and for what ultimate purpose?

With the National Cholesterol Education Program Guidelines, having been designed by "experts" on the payroll of statin drug manufacturers, requiring ultra-low levels to obtain a strictly theoretical and numerical definition of "health," statin drugs are guaranteed to receive first-line treatment status in the goal of the preventing and treating heart disease through lipid suppression.

What is at question here, is whether the unintended, adverse effects of this chemical class of drugs are less, the same or worse than the purported "cardiovascular" benefits they provide?

Fundamentally, statin drugs damage the muscles and nerves in the body -- so much so that a dose as low as 5 mg a day (albeit in rare cases) can kill a human. There are well over 100 studies demonstrating the myotoxic, or muscle-harming effects of these drugs, and over 80 demonstrating the effects of nerve damage, as well. When you consider that a vast proportion of our body is comprised of muscles and coordinating nerve systems, this drug has the potential to cause damage to the entire body, and undoubtedly does so universally, differing only in the matter of degree -- the damage occurring acutely in those at the tip of the iceberg, asymptomatically in the majority of others at the base.

Dr. B M Hegde says that 10% of the patients get diabetes taking Satin drugs for even 1 year.

[www.keralites.net] A2 & A1 Milk - Importance of Indian breeds of Cow

A2 A1 Milk - Importance of Indian breeds of Cow :- According to modern science original Men and Cows were born on A froasian Land called Jambu dweepe bharatkhande . These cows the Indian breeds of cows are called       Bos Indicus.
About 8/10000 Years ago, when these cows migrated to colder climates
of Europe, DNA underwent mutation . Amino acid at 67 TH position was Proline that got replaced with Histidine.
Milk of ancient breeds of cows is called A2 milk. Milk of European cows with mutated DNA is designated A1 milk. During digestion proteins in milk are broken down in to peptides. Most of these peptides are converted in to amino acids to be absorbed by the blood stream. But all peptides do not get broken down in to amino acids to get absorbed.
Some are excreted in our stools and some manage to get through the leaks in gut wall in to the blood stream while still in peptide form. A1 milk releases in human body the peptide called BCM7 ( Betacasomorphine). This is an opium family substance , and has been associated with a very large number of diseases. One liter A1 Milk contains 24 - 32gms of casein of which 9 to12 grams is BCM7 (about two tea spoons) . In Infants Blood Brain Barrier is formed in human body after 3 to 4 years age. BCM7 in infant milk is associated with Autism, Diabetes type 1 and Sudden death Syndrome in infants. In Adults BCM7 has been implicated in very high incidence of CAD, (Heart related diseases) Diabetes, Ulcerative colitis, Multiple sclerosis, Mental disorders Parkinson Schizophrenia.
Consumption of A1 Milk correlation with deaths due to Heart troubles and Diabetes are shown in the graphs here. Cardiac deaths A1 Milk Diabetes A1 Milk All Govts NZ, EC are buying time, in the mean while the Dairy Industries/ Farmers are quietly embarking upon strategies to change their breeding policies to make complete switch over to A2 milk in next ten years. Situation in India Govt of India has taken cognizance of A1/A2 . NABGRI Karnal has been asked to make a study of cattle situation in India. Preliminary studies have confirmed the hypothesis that Indian Breeds of Cows produce safe A2 type milk.
Researchers in AIIMS Delhi are already involved in health aspects of A1/A2 milk. Research is already going on for fast DNA detection tools to identify A1/A2 milk producing cows in India. Future Work will be Promotion of Indian Breeds of Cows, which are confirmed as A2 milk producers and rethinking of Indian Cross Breeding Strategies.
