A Slice of This Cake Should Accompany Your Coffee! Coffee cake can be any cake-like substance that is served next to a nice hot mug of coffee, but in my opinion, there is only one type of cake that deserves to be sharing the space next to my cup - and that's a nice big square of rich, buttery cake topped with cinnamon-scented crumbles. This is a recipe fit for all occasions.       The Cake This cake is a play on the classic yellow butter cake. The biggest difference between the two is that sour cream is used in this recipe instead of plain milk in order to give the cake an ever-so-slight tanginess. When you are making this, it might seem like there is not enough batter for the baking pan, but it will rise significantly in the oven. The Crumble I love crumble topping, and it should never be an afterthought (especially in this cake). After all, the crumble is an integral part of the whole cake, creating a desirable layer of decadence. I love using big crumbs that get crunchy during the baking process, giving some textual contrast to the soft cake beneath. Don't mix the topping too thoroughly though as you'll lose those big pebble-sized crumbles. Serving the Cake Bake this cake in a 9x13" baking dish and you'll have a nice number of servings. This cake keeps well for several days, staying tender and moist right up until you've consumed the last crumb. Serve it, of course, with a nice cup of strong coffee. How to Make Classic Coffee Cake Serves 12 What You Need Ingredients For the crumble topping: 1/3 cup sugar 1/3 cup brown sugar 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted 1 cup all-purpose flour For the cake: 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 large eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 1/4 cups full-fat sour cream To finish: 1 cup powdered sugar 2 tablespoons whole milk 1/2 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract Equipment Mixing bowls Stand mixer or hand mixer 9x13" baking dish Baking sheet Wire cooling rack Instructions 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F: Coat the baking dish with baking spray or a tablespoon of butter. 2. Prepare the crumble topping: Mix together the sugars and cinnamon in a medium-sized bowl. Stir in the butter, add the flour and use a fork to stir and toss the flour until big, slightly floury crumbs form. Set the bowl aside.   3. Mix the butter, sugar, and eggs: With a stand or hand mixer, beat the butter and sugars together at a medium-high speed until fluffy and light. Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat until incorporated. Mix in the vanilla and then scrape down the sides of the bowl. 4. Beat in the flour and sour cream: Whisk together the salt, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl. On a low speed, beat in 1/3 of the flour mixture, followed by half the sour cream. Beat in another 1/3 of the flour, followed by the remaining sour cream, followed by the rest of the flour. Beat the mixture until you see the last bit of dry flour get worked into the batter, then beat on a high speed for a few seconds until the batter has become smooth and has no lumps.     5. Transfer the batter to the pan and top with crumbs: Pour the batter into the pan and spread evenly. Using your hands, break up the crumble mixture (from step 2) and scatter it over the top.    6. Bake the cake for 40-45 minutes: Bake the cake until it feels springy when you touch the middle. If the crumbs start to get too brown before the cake is done, then tent the top loosely with some foil.   7. Cool the cake: Transfer the cake to a wire rack and leave it to cool to room temperature. 8. Drizzle the cake with icing: Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to create a thick, pourable icing. Drizzle the icing over the cooled cake.    9. Serve the cake: Slice into wedges and serve with a nice mug of hot coffee. Cover the leftovers and keep them at room temperature for up to a week.

When you are a famous celebrity, you also have certain power. But remember, with great power comes greater responsibility. Thankfully, these celebrities used their power for a better cause and have been fighting to save our environment. And I am not just talking about fancy speeches or publicity stunts. These celebs have actually stepped on to ground level and brought about a change.   1. Leonardo DiCaprio   Of course, if you were living on another planet until now, at least after his Oscar acceptance speech you'd know that Leonardo DiCaprio holds the issue of climate change pretty close to his heart. He has actually been associated with the cause years now. Apart from having his own Leonardo DiCaprio foundation which works towards the cause of climate change and wildlife, DiCaprio also helped raise funds for the Haiti earthquake. The United Nations had even named DiCaprio a U.N. Messenger of Peace with special focus on climate change.   2. George Clooney   Clooney is currently fighting for human rights in the Maldives, but the actor has done his bit for the environment. In the pas,t he has vehemently slammed those who were spreading the reports that climate change has got nothing to do with humans. He even argued that denying the existence of climate change is ridiculous. He has also been involved with the launch of Oil Change, a campaign to eliminate America's dependence on foreign oil. He even traded his BMW for two-seater Eco-friendly electric car!   3. Rahul Bose   Our very own Bollywood actor and social activist, Rahul Bose has been active in the fight against climate change and environmental protection as well. In 2009, Rahul, who represented Oxfam at the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen, joined tens of thousands of demonstrators at a mass rally and candlelight vigil outside the Danish Parliament in Copenhagen. He even has his own Rahul Bose foundation which works towards the cause of climate change.   4. Mark Ruffalo   While you all may know of Mark Ruffalo as the big green guy, Hulk, he's pretty green in real life too. He is an active clean energy supporter and even has his own charity organisation Water Defense. He was also awarded The Humanitarian Award for his work with Water Defense at the BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards. He has actively worked towards fighting the fracking in New York.   5. Brad Pitt   Well, we all know what great social activists Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are. Brad Pitt in particular, has been working towards green environment and sustainable homes. In 2007, Brad Pitt founded The Make It Right Foundation for providing affordable and sustainable homes to communities around the world. Pitt also supports the concept of green housing to be made available nationally as a housing model. He also received an award from the U.S. Green Building for his housing concept.   6. Gul Panag   Gul Panag is part of  the Col. Shamsher Singh Foundation and Gul 4 Change. It works towards basic sanitation, waste disposal and effective employment of natural energy resources. In fact, she also formulated a "green home" by effectively employing water harvesting and solar power energy instead of exhaustive resources.   7. Matt Damon   Since years now, Matt Damon has been working for the cause of clean water. Damon founded H2O Africa, a charity providing clean water to African communities. Not only that, he also created Water.org to provide access to clean water in all continents.   8. Emma Watson   The Harry Potter actress has been actively involved in promoting sustainable fashion. She has designed Eco capsule collections for People Tree, a fair trade sustainable clothing brand. She even flew to Bangladesh to see where the clothing was being made, and met the people who were making it. She also collaborated with The Green Carpet Challenge which works to promote sustainable style on the red carpet.

உயிர் சாட்சி

ஒருங்கே நின்றது ஆணும் பெண்ணும்;;

 

சிறு கடலடி

சினத்தில் பொங்கியது மானம்

இனி ஒரு கொடி

இரண்டாய் ஆனாலும் ஆகும்;

 

எவர் இவர்
