[www.keralites.net] Simple Steps to Deal With The Negative People in Your Life

This is How You Can Cope With the Negativity in Your Life!

"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change the way you think about it."

You may interact with negative people daily, be they friends, family members, a partner, or a colleague. You love them, you care about them, you can't just cut them out of your life, but they are negative and their negativity is eating away at you. What can you do?

The best way of dealing with life's challenges is to take a good look at ourselves and take responsibility for what we think, feel and do.

Dealing - Negativity - People

1. Give up the need to complain

Make sure you are taking responsibility for your feelings and mood. Don't go complaining that other people's negativity is affecting you, because it will only create more negativity. Take responsibility for your thoughts and feelings and see what you can do to make yourself feel better and change the existing situation.

"Whoever has limited knowledge of human nature and seeks happiness by changing everything but his own attitude, will waste his life in futile efforts."
- Samuel Johnson

2. Similarity Attracts

Good brings about good, bad brings about bad, and whether we want to or not, we pull into our lives events, situations and people that reflect our internal state. Ask yourself: "How am I feeling? Am I happy, excited, thankful and calm? Or am I anxious, frustrated and judgmental?"

You may find that you radiate misery to the environment and that part of the negative energy surrounding you is in fact a reflection of yourself.

Dealing - Negativity - People

This is definitely one of the hardest things to learn. Look closely at the negative people in your life. What is it about them that gets you going? What affects you so much? Is what they are doing really that bad or is your brain playing games with you?

Remember, the brain is configured to look for trouble, and it focuses on other's negative qualities. It'll be very hard to get it to see the positive side of things, but it doesn't mean there isn't one.

4. Focus

Ask yourself: "Am I ready to find the good in these people? Am I able to see their good qualities?" Let the answers come naturally, and make sure you are being honest with yourself.

If you feel like you're insistent and won't change the way you are looking at people and situations, don't give yourself a hard time. This takes time and patience, and when you are ready, you'll take this step. Remember, we all have good in us.

"It's so hard when I NEED to do it and so easy when I WANT to do it."
- Annie Gottlier

5. Don't make their problems YOUR problems

For their sake and yours, make sure you are not adopting their problems and becoming negative about them yourself. If you want to cure negativity, sliding down right along with the negative person won't help, it will just make it worse by validating their thought and behavioral patterns. Rather, focus on solutions, not problems. Offer that and nothing else.

Dealing - Negativity - People

Instead of being a victim and judge, you need to take full responsibility for your thoughts and feelings, and take a different approach.

"Everything that annoys us in others can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves.
- Carl Jung.

Don't waste your time obsessing and thinking: "They are ruining my energy, making me miserable, their negative energy is infecting my own..." Instead, say to yourself: "How can I use this to my advantage? Is there something I'm doing wrong? How can I improve the situation and increase my positive energy to be stronger than their negative energy? What do I learn from all of this?"

7. Come with your own positive energy

Focusing on negative energy cannot create positive energy, and the other way around is also true. Focus on making yourself happy, enough that you have great positive energy, and you will see the negativity cringing away from it.

Remember, energy is contagious!

How to put up positive energy? Focus on the things you like about the negative people, focus on things you love about yourselves, life, and the world around you. Think of loved ones, of things that make you happy. That way, you will increase the positive energy exponentially.

If you incur negative energy by thinking about bad things, the opposite is also true, and you'll be able to hopefully 'wake up' your fellow workers. You can't focus on both of them at the same time, so choose one - happiness or misery.

8. Be part of the change you'd like to see

The world is no more than a reflection of who we are, deep inside. Try to go for a feeling of well-being, to live a positive life, a merry life, one that has love, trust, and the pursuit of happiness. We cannot change others, but only ourselves. This is the only way to change the world.

Think of it this way: When you are happy, the world seems happy, and the sky is open and blue. When you are sad, the world seems sad as well, and the sky is grey and uncaring, leaving you alone to deal with your pain.

Flow with life events, don't resist them, live in harmony and be the change you wish to see in the world.

"Never underestimate your power to change yourself. Never overestimate your power to change others."
- Wayne W. Dyer

Dealing - Negativity - People

Work on understanding life's inevitable duality - accept the negative with the good. Don't harp on people's negativity, don't judge or fight them. Let them be, look and accept. Remember, your world is no more real than a reflection of who you are, deep inside. Don't try to bring everyone into your own world, accept theirs as no less real than yours, and their point of view as no less valid.

The hardest part of acceptance is accepting that, sometimes, some people cannot be changed. Their negativity is something they will defend to the last drop. Not because it gives them pleasure, but because they think it is a natural part of themselves.

Even though it's never too late to try and change that point of view, some never will. It's up to you to either accept their negativity and react accordingly, or take your distance from them. This is especially hard when it is someone we love.

"Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darkness of others."
- Carl Jung

10. Move forward

Dealing with negativity and trying your best to dispel it can be exhausting, and at some point, you have to move on with your life in a positive way. Find a path that allows you to go on with your life without the negativity of others, but also, without the regret that leaving a loved one or friend behind may cause you.

Make your feelings known to them, make them understand they are hard to be around, and slowly decrease your contact. If they want you to stay in their lives, they will be forced to at least pretend to be less negative, and pretending is the first step to actually becoming less negative. The more we act a certain way, the more we believe in it.

[www.keralites.net] 12 INDIA FOODS THAT CUT FAT

12 Indian Foods that Cut Fat
You don't have to acquire a taste for olive oil, seaweed or soya to maintain a low-fat, healthy diet. Indian cuisine can be healthy too, if it's cooked with oil and ingredients that take care of your heart and health.
Ayurveda suggests you include all tastes â€" sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent â€" in at least one meal each day, to help balance unnatural cravings. Here are 12 foods that can help you lose weight and gain health:
Turmeric : Curcumin, the active component of turmeric, is an object of research owing to its properties that suggest they may help to turn off certain genes that cause scarring and enlargement of the heart. Regular intake may help reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol and high blood pressure, increase blood circulation and prevent blood clotting, helping to prevent heart attack.
Cardamom : This is a thermogenic herb that increases metabolism and helps burn body fat. Cardamom is considered one of the best digestive aids and is believed to soothe the digestive system and help the body process other foods more efficiently.
Chillies : Foods containing chillies are said to be as foods that burn fat. Chillies contain capsaicin that helps in increasing the metabolism. Capsaicin is a thermogenic food, so it causes the body to burn calories for 20 minutes after you eat the chillies.
Curry leaves : Incorporating curry leaves into your daily diet can help you lose weight. These leaves flush out fat and toxins, reducing fat deposits that are stored in the body, as well as reducing bad cholesterol levels. If you are overweight, incorporate eight to 10 curry leaves into your diet daily. Chop them finely and mix them into a drink, or sprinkle them over a meal.
Garlic : An effective fat-burning food, garlic contains the sulphur compound allicin which has anti-bacterial effects and helps reduce cholesterol and unhealthy fats.
Mustard oil : This has low saturated fat compared to other cooking oils. It has fatty acid, oleic acid, erucic acid and linoleic acid. It contains antioxidants, essential vitamins and reduces cholesterol, which is good for the heart.
Cabbage : Raw or cooked cabbage inhibits the conversion of sugar and other carbohydrates into fat. Hence, it is of great value in weight reduction.
Moong dal : The bean sprouts are rich in Vitamin A, B, C and E and many minerals, such as calcium, iron and potassium. It is recommended as a food replacement in many slimming programmes, as it has a very low fat content. It is a rich source of protein and fiber, which helps lower blood cholesterol level. The high fiber content yields complex carbohydrates, which aid digestion, are effective in stabilising blood sugar and prevent its rapid rise after meal consumption.
Honey : It is a home remedy for obesity. It mobilises the extra fat deposits in the body allowing it to be utilized as energy for normal functions. One should start with about 10 grams or a tablespoon, taken with hot water early in the morning.
Buttermilk : It is the somewhat sour, residual fluid that is left after butter is churned. The probiotic food contains just 2.2 grams of fat and about 99 calories, as compared to whole milk that contains 8.9 grams fat and 157 calories. Regular intake provides the body with all essential nutrients and does not add fats and calories to the body. It is thus helpful in weight loss.
Millets : Fiber-rich foods such as millets - jowar, bajra, ragi, etc - absorb cholesterol and help increase the secretion of the bile that emulsifies fats.
Cinnamon and cloves: Used extensively in Indian cooking, the spices have been found to improve the function of insulin and to lower glucose, total cholesterol, LDL and triglycerides in people with type 2 diabetes.

[www.keralites.net] Demonetization - A new perspective!

Demonetization: What does the world's most unbiased reporter say?

by chaiwallah

This might come as a shock to The Hindu, The Troll, The Wire and The Huffington Post. Not to mention a shock to Newslaundry. The best journalists in the world don't come out of Doon school and St. Stephens College and JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia. To say nothing of Columbia University school of Journalism.

Here is the world's best journalist:

It's called money.

Suppose that you want to know how India's rice farmers are doing right now. Suppose you want to know how the laborers who sowed the rice, the laborers who harvested the crop, the farmers who sold the crop, the traders who bought the crop and the truckers who transported the crop and finally the grocers who put the rice on market shelves are doing.

You have two choices. You could go to a "journalist" who will pick one person from each category and ask the question that is the hallmark of airhead reporting today: "Aapko kaisa lag raha hai?". But keep in mind that this journalist could have an agenda. He or she could have been an Agustapatrakar. Even a Radia stenographer perhaps. Or maybe a Bhakt?

But there is a second, much better choice. You could simply go check the price.

The price is one single magical number that captures the situation of every single person in the supply chain. The best thing about prices is that they don't have an agenda. The price does not have a political affiliation. The price doesn't care if you are a Modi supporter or a Rahul Gandhi supporter. The price doesn't care if you are an illiterate person or you have an arts degree  from JNU.

Since Nov 8, we have all read fantastic stories of how all the agricultural Mandis are empty, of how trucks have gone off the road. We have heard about how farmers cannot harvest their crop nor sell their crop nor plant a new crop. Amazingly however, there is one stubborn fact. Prices aren't rising!

Apparently, no trader, no hoarder has noticed yet the opportunity of a lifetime. Hardly any crop got harvested, hardly any crop got sowed and hardly any crop got transported. The farms are empty, the trucks are empty, the Mandis are empty, but the markets are full. Amazing!

In fact, is there one item that people can name that has disappeared from the shelves since Nov 8? From tomatoes to journalists to intellectuals, the markets seem well stocked with stuff for sale as usual.

Those claiming "poor implementation" of demonetization should answer the question about why there are no price shocks happening anywhere? Do they understand what it takes to keep 1200 million people supplied with milk, grain and vegetables after sucking 86% of all currency out of the system? And yet, not a single price shock.

In fact, in the initial weeks, the "poor implementation" brigade was greedily looking forward to a collapse of the supply chain.

[www.keralites.net] 7 - Powerful Tips for Success in Life!

7 - Powerful Tips for Success in Life!

If you want success you have to follow following tips.

1. Begin your day the night before
Use a personal motivation notebook to plan and write down what you need to do the next workday. Just before you sleep, pick up motivation book and spend a few minutes reading it. Also write what positive three things has happened to you today.

2. Get to bed early
Remember that one-hour of sleep just before midnight is more valuable than one hour of sleep after midnight. Adjust your schedule so you can get to bed earlier. As you fall asleep, convince yourself that you will receive new insights to solve the problems.

3. Read your plan before getting out of bed
After you wake, lie down on your bed for a few minutes and think your today plan. And imagine how great it will be when things turn out exactly as you have previously imagined. As you get out of bed, you will notice that you feel self-motivated.

4. A good breakfast can make the difference between a good day and a bad one. So take a breakfast that has adequate protein. This helps you maintain a high energy level.

5. Listen to soul lifting music as you go to work
Use self-motivating music to set yourself in the right mood as you go to work. This type of music opens up your energy centres and promotes clear thinking

6. Commend yourself for achievements
throughout the day; make sure you keep yourself motivated by commending yourself. Tick down the tasks that you complete. And when you face any unexpected challenges, motivate yourself to face them.

7. Repeat steps 1 and 2 again
Just before going to bed at night, go over the day's tasks in your personal motivation book. Show appreciation for what you accomplished during the day. congratulate yourself : "I'm the most endowed and qualified person who accomplished these things." Then plan for the next day.

Remember that before you can plan your day successfully, you need to get rid of clutter and become more organized. So cut down on the time spent in front of the TV and take some time to clean up and reorganize your desk. And organize your office as well. you will notice a remarkable change in your personal motivation and achievement.

[www.keralites.net] Daily positive Thought!

True winning is accepting not resisting!

If you ever find yourself defending a position, explaining why, or justifying anything, it means you have been defeated. It means you have not been able to accept the others point of view, or the fact that you may be wrong.

Fear has conquered your mind and your heart. Your defenses are up and you are running scared. It's not that the other person has conquered you, it's the self-created fear that is in control.
Until you can accept the other (you don't have to agree) and you are not threatened by the other, your victories will be delayed. It's a funny old world when true winning is accepting not resisting, when victory is found in the wisdom to stop fighting and to begin engaging.

Practical Exercise On Intellect Reawakening And Empowerment

It has been estimated that for around 80% of our daily routine we are ruled by habits. This means that most of the time we go straight from thought (created by the mind) to action, without checking the quality of our thoughts. In this way, we bypass the intellect, and do not use our capacity to judge right from wrong and to make conscious decisions. What we need to do now is reawaken, use and empower the intellect, which is true spiritual empowerment.

Practical Exercise
Withdraw your attention from everything around you.  Create a simple thought in your mind.   Concentrate on the thought. Then use your intellect to judge to what extent the thought is right or wrong and what the quality of that thought is (is it a negative thought, a waste or unnecessary thought, a necessary thought, a positive one etc.?).   If you decide it is not a good thought, leave it and create a better thought. In this way, you consciously exercise control of your mind and intellect thereby strengthening your mental and intellectual capaci ties. This will also help you regain your feelings of rule over the self.

If thoughts or images come from your memories or from sources outside your own mind while you are busy in this inner exercise, don't give them any mental energy. Let them go and bring your attention back to your own conscious creation (mentioned above). Once, you have mastered this in this exercise; try the same process while you busy in your daily routine.

To help others discover their talents is the best help we can give.

Sometimes people are unaware of their talents, or afraid to use them. But if we do not use the gifts we have been given, we can never be truly happy. Throughout our lives, people help us grow.  As we grow older, we can help others too. Making others aware of the things they do well and subtly encouraging them to use their talents is the best way to help them progress.

Message for the day

To stand for what we believe in is not to fall before what we fear.

Though to Ponder: When fear takes over, I need to focus more on what I believe in, rather than focusing on what I fear. To think of what I don't want or what I want to avoid is not the solution. Rather, I need to focus my energies on what I want. When I do this, I will be able to avoid negativity and use my potential and energy for what needs to be done.

Point to Practice: Today I will think of one thing I have been avoiding. I will then see what I want to do in its place. If I don't want something, there would surely be something that I want. When I start working on what I should be doing, I will naturally be able to do away with what I fear or what I am avoiding.
