[www.keralites.net] Dealing with Angry person!

Dealing with Angry person!

There is a very revealing verse in the Bible that defines the psychology of an angry person. Proverbs 22:24 - Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man: The warning is very poignant. Angry people are exceptionally difficult to deal with. Same time you cannot avoid an angry person. Perhaps you're married to a person who has a short temper. Maybe one of your children has a short fuse.

Dealing with an angry person is problematic at best. You need to be aware of several things.

YOU CAN NOT RATIONALIZE WITH AN ANGRY PERSON

Even don't even try. When someone is angry, you won't be able to rationalize with them. It is not something you can do when they are angry.

Angry people don't listen. In most cases they didn't even listen to what the other person had to say. It is with little regard to what the other person was saying.

BE CAREFUL ABOUT TRAPPING OR EMBARRASSING AN ANGRY PERSON

Anger is a defensive measure that people retreat towards when some fear, conscious or subconscious, is evoked. People will defend an indefensible position out of anger.

MAKE AN EFFORT TO CALM AN ANGRY PERSON DOWN

Saying nothing may irritate them. Walking away may frustrate them. Trying to calm them down may only make them feel that you are patronizing them.

So how do you calm someone down?

If you can make a person feel that the problem is being addressed, they may calm down. For many people, it takes time to calm down. For others the sudden shock of how irresponsible or embarrassing they must appear to others will help calm them down. It takes a bit of skill, imagination, and ingenuity, but it can work.

NEVER GET ANGRY YOURSELF

Two angry people are like hand grenades threatening each other. Anger only fuels anger. You can't win a fight if you get angry.

Try to put yourself in the other person's shoes. Try to understand the source of their anger. Shove it aside and try to focus on solutions. Trying to out 'rage' each other is like adding oil to fire. It doesn't put out the fire.

[www.keralites.net] Bad News People, 'Selfie Elbow' Is Now Officially A Medical Condition!

Bad News People, 'Selfie Elbow' Is Now Officially A Medical Condition!

Doctors have warned that capturing that perfect selfie can put avid selfie-takers at risk of developing "selfie elbow", which is becoming a medical condition.

Like tennis elbow or golfer's elbow, an addiction to taking selfies can cause a pain in the primary elbow and there has been a spurt in patients landing in the doctor's office with the contion.

According to Jordan Metzl, a sports medicine physician at Hospital for Special Surgery in the US, the problem is overuse. Like carpal tunnel and tendinitis, it is the repetitive nature of the task that causes the aches. If you do something enough times - typing, texting, or taking selfies - it is going to have consequences.

"Basically, the interface between technology and the human body sometimes causes injuries of over-exuberance," Metzl said, adding, "We used to see it with Blackberry phones -it was a real thing. People would get tendinitis in their thumb because they were on their Blackberries all the time."

Explaining the problem, Metzl said, "You put too much stress on the muscle and it irritates the area where the muscle comes off the bone and you get this inflammatory response." The condition can be treated by taking pain relievers like Advil or Motrin for the inflammation and putting on some ice as well as stretching the muscles.

The condition is an addition to the long list of concerns about the increase in technology injuries in teens. Gaming, using Snapchat, selfie-taking, texting and tweeting teens are more prone to overuse injuries than ever before.

In a recent case, award winning journalist Hoda Kotb went to a doctor complaining of pain in her elbow. "I went to the orthopaedist and he said, 'are you playing tennis or ping-pong?' I told him I was taking selfies," Kotb was quoted as saying.

"In recent years we've been seeing an increase in carpal tunnel syndrome and tendinitis from overuse in teens, where 10 to 15 years ago it was mostly scraped knees and falling off a bike," said Charles Kim, a musculoskeletal rehab specialist at Rusk Rehabilitation at New York University Langone Medical Centre.

Kim suggests a selfie stick for the dedicated documenters, which works like an arm extender and takes the pressure off the elbow.

[www.keralites.net] Top 5 Foods to help you to sleep!

Top five foods to help you sleep
(World Sleep Day Special)

Whether it's a one-off occurrence before a big event or a nightly struggle, most of us suffer from insomnia at one time or another. Fortunately, there are many foods that can help you sleep a little easier. To help you relax and catch some Zs, check out our top five foods to help you sleep.
Dairy products
dairy-product-milk-cheeseIf you're struggling to get a good night's sleep, foods containing tryptophan should be your first port of call. Tryptophan, an essential amino acid, helps to raise serotonin and melatonin levels in the body, both of which can help induce sleep. While turkey is a famously good source of tryptophan, other (perhaps more bedtime-friendly) sources include dairy products such as yoghurt and milk. On top of their tryptophan levels, dairy snacks are also a great source of calcium, which helps the brain to use tryptophan to create melatonin. Research has also suggested that a deficiency of calcium in the diet can cause disturbed sleep patterns and a lack of deep (REM) sleep.
Oats
oatsWhile many of us associate oats with breakfast time, they are also the perfect evening snack. Oats are a good natural source of melatonin, which is often taken as a sleep aid due to its ability to help regulate the body's internal clock. They are also another good source of tryptophan, especially when combined with milk. Furthermore, oats are rich in both calcium and magnesium; two minerals that have been proven to promote good quality sleep. For a warm, soothing snack before bed, try eating a small bowl of porridge to help you drift off, combined with any of the following toppings to help double its effects.
Bananas
bananaIf you suffer from muscle spasms or cramps during the night, it may be that you are deficient in the electrolytes magnesium and potassium, both of which help to relax muscles and keep them functioning properly. Fortunately, bananas are excellent source of both minerals, making them a good bedtime snack, particularly after a heavy exercise session. As well as being rich in these essential minerals, bananas also contain tryptophan, which can help to promote sleep. Researchers from the University of New England in New South Wales have also found that having a banana before bed can help sufferers of sleep apnea by keeping their throats open and therefore reducing the risk of choking.
Cherries
cherryFor those who have trouble sleeping, you may be familiar with over-the-counter melatonin supplements used to treat insomnia. However, while melatonin can help to regulate sleep, it may be unwise to rely on supplements for long-term use. Fortunately, cherries provide a great natural source of melatonin as well as being excellent for overall health. A research study published in The Journal of Sleep and Sleep Disorders Research has indicated that consuming tart cherries before bed helped participants sleep faster and easier, making fresh cherries or cherry juice a great natural sleep aid.
Flax seeds
flaxseedFlax seeds are great for increasing levels of sleep-regulating substance serotonin in the body due to their high levels of both tryptophan and omega-3 fatty acids. Furthermore, the omega-3 fatty acids they contain have been proven to help reduce the anxiety, depression and stress which are leading causes of insomnia, and have been shown to be effective against the condition sleep apnea. Not only that, flax seeds are a good source of magnesium, which is renowned for its ability to reduce stress due to its relaxing effect on the muscles and nervous system. Magnesium has also been shown to help prevent restless leg syndrome and night terrors; both of which can affect sleep.

ISRO gearing up for launch of 83 satellites on single rocket in 2017

New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is eyeing record by putting 83 satellites into orbit on a single rocket in early 2017.

The Indian space agency is aiming for this world record by putting two Indian and eighty one foreign satellites, a top official was quoted saying.

He said the company's order book stands at Rs 500 crore while negotiations are on for launch order for another Rs 500 crore.

"During the first quarter of 2017 we plan to launch a single rocket carrying 83 satellites. Most foreign satellites are nano satellites," Rakesh Sasibhushan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Antrix Corporation said.

Antrix Corporation is the commercial arm of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

He said all 83 satellites will be put in a single orbit and hence there will not be any switching off and on of the rocket.

The major challenge for the proposed mission is to hold the rocket in the same orbit till all the satellites are ejected.
