YESTERDAY, THE NEW-SPAPERS CARRIED THESE GOLDEN WORDS TO BOOST THE MORALE OF  ALL SENIORS, SPECIALLY THE INVALIDS AND BED/CHAIR RIDDEN, FROM  THE CELEBRATED BRITISH SCIENTIST, STEPHEN HAWKINGS NOW 78, BUT STRIKEN BY THE MOTORNEURON LOU GEHRIG'S DISEASE SINCE 21 AGE:
 

1-"KEEPING SOMEONE ALIVE AGAINST THEIR OWN WISHES, BY DENYING ASSISTED SUICIDE IS THE ULTIMATE HUMAN INDIGNITY."

 

2-HE FURTHER SAID: "HE WOULD CONSIDER IT,

 

1- IF HE WERE IN GREAT PAIN, OR, IF

 

 2-HE FELT LIKE A BURDEN TO HIS LOVED ONES WHO TOOK CARE OF HIM, OR IF

 

 3-HE HAD NOTHING LEFT TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE WORLD."

 

HE SAID HE IS NOT IN PAIN BUT HE SUFFERS OCCASIONAL DISCOMFORT AND BOUTS OF LONILESS, BECAUSE HE CANT ADJUST HIS BODY POSITION. (HE CANT MOVE ABOUT, NOR GET UP NOR WALK ETC.)

 

HE IS THE DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH AT THE CENTRE OF THEORETICAL COSMOLOGY, AT  THE CABRIDGE UNIVERSITY, U.K. IT  WAS REPORTED BY BBC AND THE DAILY TELEGRAPH.

 

HE HAS BEEN ON THE WHEEL CHAIR FOR  56 + YEARS,  AND LOST HIS ABILITY TO SPEAK WITHOUT ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENTS/VOICE.

 

MR HAWKINGS VISITED MUMBAI SOME YEARS AGO AND DELIVERED A LECTURE IN SHANUKHANAD HALL, IT MAY BE RECALLED IN SUCH A STATE AND WITH SUCH EQUIPMENT.

 

IF IN SUCH A VEGETATIVE STATE OF HIS BODY AND DEGERATIVE NERVE CELLS, HE  CAN KEEP HIS SPIRTITS SO HIGH AND AMBITIONS SO HIGH TO  GIVE MORE TO THIS WORLD'S  KNOW-HOW ABOUT COSMOLOGY AND ASTROPHYSICS ETC THAN HE HAS ALREADY GIVEN, THEN WHY NOT ALL PEOPLE OF THE WORLD IN LESS WORSE PHYSICAL CONDITONS CAN DO SO?
