[www.keralites.net] Letter by Hongkong TV Psychologist to his Kids

Following is a letter to his son/daughter from a renowned Hong Kong TV broadcaster and child psychologist.

The words are actually applicable all of us, young or old, children or parents!

This applies to daughters too. All parents can use this in their teaching to their children..

Dear Son/daughter

I am writing this to you because of three reasons

1. Life, fortune, and mishaps are unpredictable,no body knows how long he lives. Some words are better said early. I am your father, and if I don't tell you these,no one else will. What is written is my own personal bitter experience  that perhaps could save you a  lot of unnecessary heartaches.

Remember the following as you go thru life .

1. Do not bear grudge towards those who are not good to you. No one has the responsibility of treating you well ,except your mother I .

To those who are good to you , you have to treasure it and be thankful, and ALSO you have to be cautious, because ,every one has a motive for every move. When a person is good to you ,it does not mean he really likes you. You have to be careful, don't  hastily regard him as a real friend.

2 . No one is indispensable , nothing is in the world that you must possess.

Once you understand this idea,it would be easier for you to go through life when people around you don't want you any more,or when you loose what/who you love most

3Life is short.

When you waste your life today, tomorrow you would find that life is leaving you. The earlier you treasure your life ,the better you enjoy life.

4 . Love is but a transient feeling, and this feeling would fade with time and with one's mood. If your so called loved ones leaves you , be patient, time will wash away your aches and sadness.

Don't over exaggerate the beauty and sweetness of love, and don't overexaggerete the sadness of falling out of love

5 . A lot of successful people did not receive a good education, that does not mean that you Can be successful by not studying hard ! Whatever knowledge you gain is your weapon in life. One can go from rags to riches, but one has to start from rags!

6 . I do not expect you to financially support me when I am old, neither would  I financially support your whole life. My responsibility as a supporter ends when you are grown up . After that, you decide whether you want to travel in a public transport or in your limousine, weather rich or poor

7 . You honor your words, but don't expect others to be so. You can be good to people, but don't expect people to be good to you. If you don't understand this, you would end up with unnecessary troubles.

8 . If you want to be rich , you have to WORK HARD ! There is no FREE LUNCH !

9 .No matter how much time I have with you ,let us treasure the time we have together . We do not know if we would meet again in our next life

Your Dad n Mom

Chikoo – Nutrition value, Benefits, and How to eat

Fun & Info @ Keralites.net
The chikoo is a tropical evergreen tree that yields fruit twice a year, though flowering may continue year round. The fruit has a high latex content and does not ripen until picked. Some are round and some are oval with pointed ends.

Nutritional and Health benefits of Chikoo/Sapodilla

Sapodilla is rich in dietary fiber (5.6 g/100g), which makes it a good bulk laxative. The fiber content helps relieve constipation episodes and helps protect the mucous membrane of the colon from cancer causing toxins by firmly binding to them.

The fruit is rich in antioxidant poly-phenolic compound tannin. Tannins are a complex family of naturally occurring polyphenols that neutralize acids by precipitating proteins. Research studies found that tannins have shown to have potential anti-inflammatory, antiviral, anti-bacterial, and anti-parasitic effects. Hence, these compounds have many useful medicinal applications such as anti-diarrheal, hemostatic (stops bleeding) and as a remedy for hemorrhoids.

Furthermore, the anti-inflammatory effect of tannins help limit conditions like erosive gastritis, reflux-esophagitis, enteritis, and irritating bowel disorders. Some other fruits that are rich in tannins include pomegranate, persimmon, grapes..etc.

Sapote contains good amount of antioxidant vitamins like vitamin C (24.5% of recommended daily intake per 100 g of fruit) and vitamin A. Vitamin A is essential for vision. It is also required for maintaining healthy mucus membranes and skin. Consumption of natural fruits rich in vitamin A has been known to protect from lung and oral cavity cancers. So also, consumption of foods rich in vitamin C helps body develop resistance against infectious agents and scavenge harmful free radicals.

Fresh ripen sapodilla are good source of minerals like potassium, copper, iron and vitamins like folate, niacin and pantothenic acid. These compounds are essential for optimal health as they involve in various metabolic processes in the body as cofactors for the enzymes.

Ripening the chikoo

How to eat chikoo

[www.keralites.net] Our Parents......

Our Parents....

Old Parents — Heart Touching Real Story

An 80 year old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45 years old highly educated son. Suddenly a crow perched on their window. The
Father asked his Son, "What is this?" The Son replied "It is a crow". After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd time, "What is this?" The Son said "Father, I have just now told you "It's a crow".

After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son the 3rd time, What is this?" At this time some expression of irritation was felt in the Son's tone when he said to his Father with a rebuff. "It's a crow, a crow". A little after, the Father again asked his Son the 4th time, "What is this?"

Read more after the break...

This time the Son shouted at his Father, "Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again, although I have told you so many times 'IT IS A CROW'. Are you not able to understand this?"

A little later the Father went to his room and came back with an old tattered diary, which he had maintained since his Son was born. On opening a page, he asked his Son to read that page. When the son read it, the following words were written in the diary :-

"Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa, when a crow was sitting on the window. My Son asked me 23 times what it was, and I replied to him all 23 times that it was a Crow. I hugged him lovingly each time he asked me the same question again and again for 23 times. I did not at all feel irritated I rather felt affection for my innocent child".

While the little child asked him 23 times "What is this", the Father had felt no irritation in replying to the same question all 23 times and when today the Father asked his Son the same question just 4 times, the Son felt irritated and annoyed.

So..

If your parents attain old age, do not repulse them or look at them as a burden, but speak to them a gracious word, be cool, obedient, humble and kind to them. Be considerate to your parents. From today say this aloud, "I want to see my parents happy forever. They have cared for me ever since I was a little child. They have always showered their selfless love on me.

They crossed all mountains and valleys without seeing the storm and heat to make me a person presentable in the society today". Say a prayer to God,

"I will serve my old parents in the BEST way. I will say all good and kind words to my dear parents, no matter how they behave at their old age."

Real story

Fine Story in real life! Parents are our guides and the best well wishers to us . They may not be with you or exist for long,
but will shower their blessings to you wherever they go.

Good Day !

Please remember that our children too are also watching us how we are treating their grand parents by us. They may behave in the same way with us, since we are the role models for them.- SIVA
