British scientists at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory have developed a way of using urine as a power source to generate electricity and claim to have created the world's first microbial fuel cells (MFC) powered mobile phone.

While many people might turn their noses up at the energy source, the researchers said that it is the 'ultimate waste product' and does not rely on the erratic nature of the wind or the sun.

The scientists shared their breakthrough in the Royal Society of Chemistry Journal of Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics.

Dr Ioannis Ieropoulos, an expert at harnessing power from unusual sources using microbial fuel cells at the University of West England, Bristol, which was also involved in the research, said the urine-powered phone is a 'world first'.

'No-one has harnessed power from urine so it's an exciting discovery.

Scientists believe they have created the first mobile phone to run on urine. Dr Ioannis Ieropoulos is pictured at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory holding a phone powered by a microbial fuel cell stack.

First Islamic Call centre coming up in Hyderabad

India�s first call centre devoted to Islamic religious queries is coming up in the city of Hyderabad. Backed by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Hyderabad, the call centre is aimed to allay misunderstandings regarding Islam.

The call centre will associate educated youth having Islamic knowledge with the call centre. The Islamic Information Centre (TIIC) will begin working with 10 people. The centre aims at taking up subjects like Islam, rights of women, purdah and education.

The centre will have a toll free number to which anyone scholars, students, professionals etc can call and put their queries. Such call centres will also be set up in other cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore in the near future soon.

Dear Nair,

Please find my observations for your mail. The reasons are

1. How a political party can make money if they do not have more power. (More decentralised development means more money in wider manner). (Development in District wise, Block wise, Panchayath wise, Village wise etc).

2. How will youth and student wings of political parties will survive.

3. How will the political party feed their leaders (salary / allowance etc).

Considering the above I found your observation IMPRACTICAL, unless and until citizens of INDIA wake up and beat all politicals (irrespective of post / power) like street dogs.

Can GOD save INDIA?????

Yes Mr. ICS Menon you are gradually coming to the crux of the problem. What you said is ABSOLUTE TRUTH and NOTHING BUT TRUTH. With the present system of democracy we may produce millions of rogues and rascals and will never produce a gentlemen citizens. The problem with us is the system of our Democracy which is based on over 29,lakh 20,000 elected members in 5 tiers , each tier we have 2 warring groups (ruling & opposition), and each tier fighting each other will NOT take this nation anywhere except destruction. In the fiscal year 2012-13 Indians paid around 28 lakh crores to government by way of direct or indirect tax (State's Tax + Union Tax but Not included Local tax) but there was NO worth development in the country. If we divide the tax collected and distribute among all our 543, Member of Parliament each Member will get over Rs. 6,000 crores for development in his constituency. He will look after his constituency like a family and make it prosper and there will always be competition between the neighboring constituencies on development and infrastructure provision. With the help of a District collector the MP will be able to present a far far better governance. For your information in an average constituency there are around 22 Lakh people or 4.4 Lakh families and in the world there are over 100 countries which do not have even 20 lakh people. In those countries Qutar and Leikestein, the highest per capita income countries are also involved.

If you closely observe and try to understand Mr Narendra Modi says in his speaches "Less Government & More Governance and Government should NOT be a Provider and Government should remain as a Facilitator".

Yes as you said we the Indian has got to think in that line. Disolve all those Assemblies and Panchayaths and hand over everything to the local Member of Parliament and make our Democracy more functional & meaningful.

Any taker, let us have a debate on this. What ever expressed here is my and only my opinion.

we are in a democratic nation ,what u mean this ."why not we think about entrusting the govermental activities with the Executives and Judiciary voting out all political parties."manipulate all news from media for the sack of their own partiality (like paid news also).vote out all politicians and elect independent candidates-they are all of them go to their own way of existences like past non confidence motion in Loksabha. we do not help true politics and political parties.your arguments also help only UPA for exploiting nation.Yes u actually help political business in India.please u realise right policy and political parties if u can. if we find it difficult to run the state without politicians, we will call them back after five years.

vote out all politicians and elect independent candiates, close down the legislature and ministerial palaces for five years and the money spent on politicians can be used to beautify our tiny state with good roads etc...

start discussing this with like minded people, especially with youngsters

every where we can see/hear people crying about the politicians actions but no one come forward to remedy the situation

CAN WE THINK SOMETHING GOOD AND ACT UNITEDLY, BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE ARE BENEFITED WITH POLITICAL ACTIVITIES AS IT IS A BUSINESS IN INDIA
