[www.keralites.net] Keep the Engine Running - A lesson for consistency in your character

Fun & Info @ Keralites.netFun & Info @ Keralites.netAfter the major hierarchy changes in the company's organization our Senior Director delivered a lecture to clear the doubts the employees may have and to elaborate the company's strategy behind this move. He explained the advantages of this new change in detail and advised us to endeavor in overcoming the challenges during the transition period. In my opinion, the core part of his lecture was when he asked us to 'Keep the engine running'. Later I pondered on this line and I concluded that this is such a powerful line which can help overcome a lot oftragic challengesin personal and professional life and help reduce thestresslevels.

Thinking about this concept of'Keeping the Engine Running', I believe that efforts to achieve any goals in your personal or professional life should not be stopped till the time we conquer. The momentum of things can be slow or fast at different phases of time but overall efforts should not be halted. When you have doubt of failure for a specific task, you can take next small step to determine if things are going in right direction. In case this small step is successful you can continue our journey towards the target. In case of failure you can take corrective action by moving one step back. This will give you the wisdom and experience not to repeat this mistake in next phases of your project. By the way, don't consider failure as opposite to success; consider it as part of your success because it is empowering your experience and wisdom to achieve the target with maximum perfection.

Yourunstable behavioris polluting your success journey. Yoursuccessdemands consistency in your deeds. Remember the fact that consistent actions become your habits, consistent habits define your character and a concrete character makes the foundation of your bright destiny. So keep the engine running, always!

[www.keralites.net] Long Work Hours Increases Your Risk Of Heart Disease

You already know that drinking too much alcohol and smoking cigarettes increase your risk for heart disease. But too much work?

Yes, logging more than eight hours a day at the office raises your
chances for heart disease by up to 80 percent, according to a recent study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology. The study was a meta-analysis, examining 12 published studies of a total of 22,000 people from the past 50 years, and it found that spending too long in the office gave people a 40 to 80 percent greater chance of heart disease, compared to working an eight hour day.

The seven authors -- led by Marianna Virtanen at the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health -- aren't exactly sure why the risk of heart disease increased so much. "There are several potential mechanisms that may underlie the association between long working hours and heart disease," they wrote. "One is prolonged exposure to psychological stress."

According to the OECD, Americans are officially spending less hours on the job than they were in 2000. But it's also important to keep in mind that Americans are increasingly allowing their work life seep into their private life. As was reported by The Huffington Post, a recent survey by Good Technology suggests that the workday is increasingly extending beyond the last time card. In the poll, 80 percent of the 1,000 Americans surveyed said that they spend time checking emails and answering phone calls after hours. And so as a result, workers spend an average of seven extra hours per week -- or 30 hours each month -- on work-related issues.

So maybe work needs to be treated like cigarettes? You know, that other cause of heart disease? if you simply can't quit, then find a way to cut back.

Here are tips on how to keep the
work hours under control:

1. Turn off the smartphone at night. The sense of
unending workday is aggravated by checking email 24/7. Checking your messages at night might make you feel that you're being more productive, but even these minor assignments "exacerbate your feelings of overwork," writes Alison Lobron, a business contributor to The Boston Globe. Sometimes there's no option besides going cold turkey. Other portals have functions that do the job of the "off" button, such as gmail's "e-mail addict" function, which allows you to bar yourself from your in-box from a set period of time,

2. Prioritize. Just because someone sends you an
email doesn't mean you need to respond right then. Likewise, you don't need to try to get everything done in a day. So accept and embrace your tendency to prioritize, and "experiment and see which things can fall through cracks without anyone noticing," writes Penelope Trunk, founder of the Brazen Careerist employment website.

3. Take charge and stop complaining. Either "you love your work and you're happy working 15-hour days," says Trunk, or you "take control of your life and create a situation where you stop complaining about having too much work." If fear of being fired for taking action against overwork is the only reason you are not making changes, then it may be time to ask yourself: Is this job worth it

Re: [www.keralites.net] Re: Muslim wanted dead or alive

Why cant we leave Politics and Religion from this good site? The mad men in Kerala will not tolerate with these two things. Food, Shelter and Cloth is the main base of living? Politics , religion and rape is the main base of the new world. God was always there to protect and direct. but did he protect the victims? did he direct the villains to a good way? why God has to wait till end of the world to show his power?Idiots are ruling the world all over. No religion is perfect or good. All those religions are filled with filthy crooked rotten hearted humans. Animals are more better.

Dear Karan,

FYI for YOUR ignorant brain, The Holy Bible was not written by Jesus Christ and it contains two parts, the old testament and new testament. Like all the holy scriptures in the world, Bible was ALSO written by human beings. NONE of the holy scriptures were dropped from Heaven. It is believed to be written by men through the intercession of God the almighty.

Now about your comments regarding the time it was written; The old testament, which is originally the Jewish canon, is believed to come into existence in the WRITTEN form by around 2500 BC and spoken words were passed through generations from many centuries before that as well. So lets assume that the Holy Bible was written  atleast 4500 years before. Hope that clears your doubt. I am writing these not to support Mr Jeevan's claims but to clear a few of your doubts. And, please do learn to respect other religions as well. All religions were created in the good intention of leading men to have a fruitful life on earth before returning to the heavenly abode. All religions teach us to love one another and NOT to hate.
India being a multi-faith country very much need the tolerance and respect of each and everyone to other religions. That kind of love and tolerance keeps us from having frequent communal riots. As a citizen of this beautiful country, I would recommend everyone to keep away from such comments to ANY religion.

Sorry if I'm hurting anyone's feelings.

DEAR JEEVAN,

For your ignorant brain: F.Y.I: Jesus Died 2012 years ago and the Bible written 5000 years ago?

Your so called bible is created by MEN and the hatred is seeded from that time(as per your version).
Every religious leaders are selfish and enjoy life without sweating (hard work) that is why these killings continue in the name of religion.

Some wise MEN created "GOD" to create Fear which will ensure reduction of criminal activities. But the followers became cruked and mean and then only the violance stated.
Believe in your self and help others around you. You don't have to practice any religion.
