[www.keralites.net] My new Novel - The LivingDead published

Hi

I am happy to share with you that my novel The LivingDead – which has been  just published. I look forward to your support by reading, feedback, and recommendations to your friends and relatives who are interested in literary fiction; the story of a psychotic coffin maker about birth, death, everything in between and beyond.

The LivingDead is the story of a psychotic coffin-maker whose ancestors, for many generations, made coffins and mausoleums for the monarchs and the powerful. He wrestles with his demons and saints to make sense of his experiences as he deals with death every day. Fairy tales, myths, and his stream of thoughts combine to create a world where the living, the dead, and the LivingDead naturally exist and communicate across space and time.

Some of the denizens in his magical world are:

·         An old man who comes riding on the wind

·         A parrot that narrates strange fairy tales

·         His ancestor who steps out of his ancient portrait

·         A jinxed miniature ivory coffin with a mirror inside that shows the future and

·         His twin brother who returns after his plane crashed in the Pacific Ocean.

The LivingDead forces to think of life from new perspectives and makes one think deeply and question many belief systems.

Arthritis Arthritis is inflammation of one or more joints. A joint is the area where two bones meet. There are over 100 different types of arthritis.

Causes

Arthritis involves the breakdown of cartilage. Normal cartilage protects a joint and allows it to move smoothly. Cartilage also absorbs shock when pressure is placed on the joint, such as when you walk. Without the normal amount of cartilage, the bones rub together. This causes, swelling (inflammation), and stiffness.
Joint inflammation may result from:
  • An autoimmune disease (the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue)
  • Broken bone
  • General "wear and tear" on joints
  • Infection, usually by bacteria or virus
In most cases, the joint inflammation goes away after the cause goes away or is treated. Sometimes it does not. When this happens, you have chronic arthritis. Arthritis may occur in men or women. Osteoarthritis is the most common type.
Other, more common types of arthritis include:

Symptoms

Arthritis causes joint pain, swelling, stiffness, and limited movement. Symptoms can include:
  • Joint pain
  • Joint swelling
  • Reduced ability to move the joint
  • Redness and warmth of the skin around a joint
  • Joint stiffness, especially in the morning

Exams and Tests

The health care provider will perform a physical exam and ask questions about your medical history.
The physical exam may show:
  • Fluid around a joint
  • Warm, red, tender joints
  • Difficulty moving a joint (called "limited range of motion")
Some types of arthritis may cause joint deformity. This may be a sign of severe, untreated rheumatoid arthritis.
Blood tests and joint x-rays are often done to check for infection and other causes of arthritis.
Your doctor may also remove a sample of joint fluid with a needle and send it to a lab to be checked.

Treatment

The goal of treatment is to reduce pain, improve function, and prevent further joint damage. The underlying cause often cannot be cured.
LIFESTYLE CHANGES
Lifestyle changes are the preferred treatment for osteoarthritis and other types of joint swelling. Exercise can help relieve stiffness, reduce pain and fatigue, and improve muscle and bone strength. Your health care team can help you design an exercise program that is best for you.
Exercise programs may include:
  • Low-impact aerobic activity (also called endurance exercise)
  • Range of motion exercises for flexibility
  • Strength training for muscle tone
Your health care provider may suggest physical therapy. This might include:
  • Heat or ice
  • Splints or orthotics to support joints and help improve their position; this is often needed for rheumatoid arthritis
  • Water therapy
  • Massage
Other things you can do include:
  • Get plenty of sleep. Sleeping 8 to 10 hours a night and taking naps during the day can help you recover from a flare-up more quickly, and may even help prevent flare-ups.
  • Avoid staying in one position for too long.
  • Avoid positions or movements that place extra stress on your sore joints.
  • Change your home to make activities easier. For example, install grab bars in the shower, the tub, and near the toilet.
  • Try stress-reducing activities, such as meditation, yoga, or tai chi.
  • Eat a healthy diet full of fruits and vegetables, which contain important vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin E.
  • Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as cold water fish (salmon, mackerel, and herring), flaxseed, rapeseed (canola) oil, soybeans, soybean oil, pumpkin seeds, and walnuts.
  • Avoid excessive alcohol and smoking.
  • Apply capsaicin cream over your painful joints. You may feel improvement after applying the cream for 3 to 7 days.
  • Lose weight, if you are overweight. Weight loss can greatly improve joint pain in the legs and feet.
MEDICINES
Medicines may be prescribed along with lifestyle changes. All medicines have some risks. You should be closely followed by a doctor when taking arthritis medicines.
Over-the-counter medicines:
  • Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is often the first medicine tried. Take up to 4000 mg a day (two arthritis-strength Tylenol every 8 hours). To prevent damage to your liver, do not take more than the recommended dose. Since multiple medications are available without a prescription that also contain acetaminophen, you will need to include them in the 4000 mg per day maximum. Also, avoid alcohol when taking acetaminophen.
  • Aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that can relieve arthritis pain. However, they can carry risks when used for a long time. Possible side effects include heart attack, stroke, stomach ulcers, bleeding from the digestive tract, and kidney damage.
Prescription medicines:
  • Biologics are used for the treatment of autoimmune arthritis. They include etanercept (Enbrel), infliximab (Remicade), adalimumab (Humira), abatacept (Orencia), rituximab (Rituxan), golimumab (Simponi), certolizumab (Cimzia), and tocilizumab (Actemra). These drugs can improve the quality of life for many patients, but can have serious side effects.
  • Corticosteroids ("steroids") help reduce inflammation. They may be injected into painful joints or given by mouth.
  • Disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) are used to treat autoimmune arthritis. They include methotrexate, sulfasalazine, hydroxychloroquine, and leflunomide.
  • Immunosuppressants such as azathioprine or cyclophosphamide are used to treat patients with rheumatoid arthritis when other medications have not worked.
  • For gout, allopurinol (Zyloprim) or febuxostat (Uloric) may be used to lower uric acid.
It is very important to take your medicines as directed by your doctor. If you are having problems doing so (for example, because of side effects), you should talk to your doctor. Also make sure your doctor knows about all the medicines you are taking, including vitamins and supplements bought without a prescription.

SURGERY AND OTHER TREATMENTS
In some cases, surgery may be done if other treatments have not worked. This may include:

Outlook (Prognosis)

A few arthritis-related disorders can be completely cured with proper treatment.
Most forms of arthritis however are long-term (chronic) conditions.

Possible Complications

Complications of arthritis include:
  • Long-term (chronic) pain
  • Disability
  • Difficulty performing daily activities

When to Contact a Medical Professional

Call your doctor if:
  • Your joint pain persists beyond 3 days.
  • You have severe unexplained joint pain.
  • The affected joint is significantly swollen.
  • You have a hard time moving the joint.
  • Your skin around the joint is red or hot to the touch.
  • You have a fever or have lost weight unintentionally.

Prevention

Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent joint damage. If you have a family history of arthritis, tell your doctor, even if you do not have joint pain.
Avoiding excessive, repeated motions may help protect you against osteoarthritis.

[www.keralites.net] : NATURALLY IMPROVE YOUR DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

M.D.HEGDE

Mob +
Mangalore +919845081888 INDIA

Naturally Improve Your Digestive System

Many health issues can be traced back to the digestive system, and can be caused by abuse of antibiotics, stress, over consumption of alcohol, infections, etc. most people aren't even aware that their digestive system isn't functioning well. If you're suffering from heartburn, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, belching, unexplained lethargy or even odd cravings, you may also have digestive problems. There are many other symptoms, but what you need to know is that your digestive system is not functioning well. This can lead to the inability to absorb nutrients that the body needs for its everyday functions.
Better Bowels
Source
1. Avoid foods that irritate your stomach
Some people are allergic or intolerant to certain types of food, such as dairy, gluten, corn, soy, nuts, eggs, etc. Paying attention to your overall feeling after you eat these kinds of foods will help you in the future. If you feel bloated, unable to concentrate, skin issues or any other symptom that appears after eating, consider avoiding that type of food. Test your body and avoid one type of food each week to see which ones are the not agreeing with you.
2. Eat more fat, but not too much
The general consensus is to eat less fat, especially when constipated and get more fiber in your diet. A digestive system that is not working well will have difficulties in processing these fibers, leading to further issues due to the undigested fibers in your body. Fat actually helps in releasing these undigested fibers, so if you're suffering from constipation, you need fat. Remember – get your fat from a healthy source, such as coconut oil, fish oil, olive oil, or flaxseed oil, and avoid unhealthy fat from soy, sunflower seeds or margarine.
3. Consume more fermented and probiotic foods
Beneficial bacteria perform much of the digestive processes in your bowels. If the delicate balance of their ecosystem is disturbed, they may decline in numbers, leading to digestion difficulties. To strengthen your digestive bacteria, add probiotic foods to your diet, such as yogurt, peas, dark chocolate, pickled cucumbers, and pickled cabbage.
4. Chew more
Many of us forget the importance of chewing as part of the digestion process. Even when we chew, enzymes in our saliva start to break down the food, so the more you chew – the easier it is to digest the food. Try chewing everything 20 times before swallowing. The process may be annoying at first, but it'll help your digestion, and also can help in weight-loss.
Better Bowels

5. Start each meal with something bitter
Even if you're hungry, your stomach may not be ready to digest food just yet. Bitter food helps signaling your body that it's time to produce stomach acids, which will help in digestion of the rest of the food. Greens such as rocket, as well as apple cider vinegar,  are a great bitter starter.
6. Eat bone soup
Homemade bone soup is an excellent source of nutrients that your body craves, and it's also cheap to make. The soup contains many minerals, amino acids, gelatin, and glycine, all of which are beneficial for your digestive system. Have it as a meal or as a side, but either way – your body will thank you.
7. Clear your bowels occasionally
We clean our body by showering, but often forget that the insides need a cleansing too sometimes. An enema is an ideal solution for internal cleansing of the bowels. It softens and breaks down any leftover refuse in our guts, then flushes it out. The results are better functioning digestive system and liver, so clearing out these toxins will improve your general feeling as well.
8. Drink ginger or chamomile tea
On top of its calming properties, chamomile tea also aids the digestion process and can help with nausea, stomachaches, and digestive cramps. Drink a cup a day, and you'll feel the change. If you're not partial to chamomile, make a ginger infusion instead – but be sure to use fresh ginger root.
Better Bowels

9. Massage your stomach after you eat
Many alternative healers suggest massaging your stomach for 2-5 minutes after every meal to aid in digestion. To do that, place your palm on the top of your stomach and move it in a clockwise direction. If you don't feel like doing it after every meal, doing it once in the evening is also helpful.
10. Support your liver functions
One of the liver's main functions is producing bile, which helps break down fats in a process that helps the absorption of vitamins A, D, E, & K. Insufficient amounts of bile can lead to harder-working digestive system that in turn, causes lethargy, particularly after eating fatty foods.. To support your liver, eat beets, artichoke, proteins, and liver.
11. Eat a healthy breakfast
It's not called "the most important meal of the day" for nothing. A good breakfast kickstarts your metabolism and keeps it working well throughout the day. Even if you're not hungry, remember that you're doing yourself a service when you eat, and if you add some yoghurt, you benefit twice.

12. Sit correctly on the toilet
Did you know that your posture when you're on the toilet actually affects your digestive system? New research found that the best way to move our bowels is by squatting, not sitting. When we sit, we apply pressure to the rectum, similarly to bending a garden hose, obstructing the healthy flow. When you squat, however, your rectum is loose and straight, making it easier to have a movement. So use a small stool when you make your own, to have an easier and healthier time when on the bowl.
Better Bowels
13. Drink water, but not during a meal
It's important to drink at least 8 cups of water a day to keep the digestion running smoothly, but nutritionists recommend not drinkingduring the meal. Some foods make us thirsty, and in these cases, you should take small sips rather than large gulps. Another recommendation is to drink room-temperature water, since cold water slows the digestion process down.
14. Avoid eating when stressed or active
Eating when you're stressed or in a rush is a sure way to get indigestion. When you eat calmly, your body activates the parasympathetic system, which digestion is part of. In stressful times or during physical activities, the body uses the sympathetic system, taking away energy from the digestive processes. This is why people feel nauseated during stressful times or after running.
